Sneaker Question for first year . . .

I found these adorable Abby Cadabby New Balance Sneakers for DD at an awesome price ($26 including shipping.) DD loves Abby Cadabby and I am anticipating them fitting her between now and when she turns 1 (Abby Cadabby themed birthday party!) I am just not sure if these are okay for her as walking shoes or if they are going to be more for show and be a total waste. I know barefoot is best, but in the event that I do put her in shoes (she likes to be walked by the hands in public alot) are New Balance sneakers ok or should I get her shoes specifically made for walking?

I was told soft shoes until they are really good on their feet. DD started walking at 10.5 months. I don't think I had her in solid shoes until she was walking so well that I let her walk outside. Inside, she wore soft shoes.

Re: Sneaker Question for first year . . .

every kid is different...DD walked at 10 months (and 6 days...i remember b/c it was a family party) and I got her shoes at stride rite at 11 months. I wish I got them earlier b/c she truly walked better in shoes and even now much prefers to walk in shoes than without.

Re: Sneaker Question for first year . . .

I think DS actually started walking much better once he was wearing regular shoes - he wore soft soles for a long time but didn't start walking till 15 months, so I don't think the soft soles helped him at all. Plus, he needed harder soles for daycare. So I would get them Chat Icon
