Snoring..anyone dealing with it??? It's out of control here!!

My dh's snoring has gotten REALLY BAD!

He has always had sinus problems and has always snored but now, its out of control!! I wake up all night long just trying to get him to turn over so it lessens a bit.

The past 2 nights he has been sleeping on the floor in the extra room down here. Its not a situation that can go on forever but the past 2 nights have been glorious for my daughter and I without him being in the room.

Does anyone else have this problem? He NEEDS to get to the doctor, something needs to be done. Its worse when hes exhausted, as he has been lately. Was just wondering how you handle it? How do you get rest?? Was there anything that helped?? I am at my wits end!!!!!!!

I smack DH like 6 times a night to get him to stop. He claims he ONLY snores when he sleeps on his back Chat Icon

Nope, on his back, side, stomach, you name it. I want to get him the breathe right strips and maybe those will work.

But, I feel your pain.

My DH is MUCH better now that he has lost 50 pounds.

Also, when he does snore, I pet him and it usually stops him.

My dh is a triple threat, he snores, grinds his teeth, and has rls, so he shakes the entire bed as he shakes his leg...I cant even begin to explain how often I have earthquake nightmares.

I bought him a mouth guard at cvs a few nights ago, and since, he has not snored at all...it was amazing it took care of 2 problems at once

Totally feel you. Don't try to put the strips on while he's sleeping. That didn't go so well for me Chat Icon Chat Icon

What does the mouth guard do?

My husband grinds his teeth too...more like clanks them together..its so weird and annoying!!!!!!! And for whomever said they pet him? I give you all the credit in the world because I have now resorted to SMACKING him 100 times a night. Its really tiring!

It looks like a retainer, and it keeps his top and bottom teeth seperated, so they cant rub together, its amazing, best $45 I have ever spent. Chat Icon Chat Icon I totally used to punch him in his sleep because I was so annoyed

Re: Snoring..anyone dealing with it??? It's out of control here!!

so wierd that i just saw this. Last night was one of the worst nights I have ever expierenced.

Dh was camping with friends this weekend and i know there was a lot of drinking and eating while they were there...so i knew he would be way tired.

got into bed..not even 10 minutes went by and dh was snoring worse then i ever heard. i actually got my cell phone from the dresser and recorded the noise just to play it for him this morning. i needed him to realize what i heard cause he would just say oh stop, it wasn't that bad. oh but it was!!!!!!

my dh snores every night but last night was the absolute worst. when he loses wieght the snoring either goes away completely or lets up a little.

i was so tired last night, i didn't have the energy to go on the couch..but trust me, there are a lot of times, that he wakes me in the middle of the night and i have to go on the couch. there is no way i could sleep through it!

so...i feel your pain and it's got to stop. oh and btw..tried the breathe strip things. i didn't do much at all. i love him but i am so angry this morning. tonight i'm sleeping on the couch Chat Icon

oh and i shhhhh him all night. i just let out a big shhhhh and it stops him for like a minute. then i force myself to fall asleep in that minute of silence. if i don't, i have to shhh him again and try even harder Chat Icon

OMGosh YES!! DH is so loud. I try to watch tv in bed and if he falls asleep I can't hear the tv.

I have to nudge him half the night just so I can get some sleep. He is always waking up tired and I tell him it's because of the snoring he does at night. I want him to see a Dr about it but he doesn't like going to drs and wont admit that its really a problem.Chat Icon

The breathe right strips work well for my DH. He still snores sometimes if he is on his back, but its not as loud.

we sleep in separate rooms...

I know its not the answer for everyone, but it works for us

We lay in bed together, usually until I fall asleep, and then he goes into "his" room

We get along much better now Chat Icon

Re: Snoring..anyone dealing with it??? It's out of control here!!

My DH has sleep apnea. He went for a sleep study around 3 years ago and it was the best thing he ever did. He used to snore pretty badly and it used to keep me up and I didn't sleep well. He now uses a CPAP machine to sleep every night and doesn't snore at all. it is great!

I would encourage your DH/SO to get things checked out. He may have a condition. We didn't know he did until he went to the doctor.

As other posters have said, DH tends to snore much less when he loses a few pounds. We've both put on a few in the last year. Chat Icon

BUT, here's how I keep my sanity: I keep a small fan on my bedside table, and I point it away from me (usually at the wall). I find that having the white noise right next to me usually drowns it out.

I do still wake up occasionally from the snoring, but--as I found out when the power went out last summer--the fan makes a WORLD of difference!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'd suggest he go to a sleep center and be tested for sleep apnea.

Dh's snoring was horrible and I ended up on the couch most nights.

turns out his test results showed that he woke up 60 times in 1 hour! Chat Icon

He now uses a CPAP machine and our lives are much better!!!

Good luck!!

I had a bf years ago that was a bad snorer. Make an appt at an ENT. There is a surgery that removes the tonsils and part of the soft palate that will eliminate the snoring. Does he also have sleep apnea? That can make it worse.

I don't know where you live, but we went to Dr. Youngerman and Grosso in Plainview. Good Luck

I use a noise machine in our bedroom and DH seems to snore less when he sleeps on his left side. In very bad cases, your DH should go for a sleep study. He may have apnea or some other condition which can be treated medically.
