Early dismissal for DC.
At least that counts as a full day, so they won't lose a day in Spring.
Us too.
They have been doing that since they blew through their only 2 snow days by giving 2 days off the first storm when to be honest, only one was necessary.
But now they are being super conservative with snow days and only doing early dismissals and late starts.
But the first storm was a 2 for 1 special.

Snow map *updating AGAIN for week of 3/19
My kids Catholic school in Western Nassau is closed. I just got home, went to Stop & Shop to get vinegar so we can color Easter eggs later, an then to DD to get coffee for us and munchkins for the kids. It is icy, roads look clear but once you start driving you realize it is really slick. I am just annoyed because I bet school will be closed again tomorrow, and my kids school is closed Friday anyway for parent/teacher conferences. So far we haven't been notified of having to make up days, but I can't imagine we have this many built in.

Based on the snow totals they are talking about I am guessing tomorrow might be closed, at the very least a delayed opening.

Our school is early dismissing...at 11:50. Too late for my liking, so I picked her up a little while ago (I drive her everyday anyway). The roads are getting very bad here!

I was really hoping my district would go the early dismissal route- it's not doing very much here at all. Now we're going to lose a 3rd day off spring break.

Hardly anything in south shore Nassau. Was just out driving and the roads are no different than if it were raining.

DD schooled closed at 1:30 but DH picked her up earlier cause he didn't feel like picking her up later on in the day.
It's starting to snow now. Glad they went the early release route and not cancel the whole day.
Most of the snow was supposed to start at noon and then get heavier though out the rest of the day and evening. From what I just read that has not changed.

Our school did early dismissal. 1:30. I picked them up at 1 so I didn't have to deal with my kindrgartener rolling around in the little bit of snow there was on the ground while waiting for my first graders. It's hardly doing anything now, I wonder if we'all still get this storm.

Farmingdale closed. I got the call last night. We were open during the one last week but I kept DS home cause it was bad here during bus times. I’d rather they cancel then take chances. And personally I do not care about losing days. We will be around anyway and one less day I need to figure out what to do with him.

It hasnt been snowing in bayside for about an hour. Some sort of sleet is lightly coming down. Are we done? We have 4-5 inches

interesting I am in Lindenhurst and we maybe have 2 inches.

I probably could have driven my kids and picked them up without issue today. If what you’re saying happens tomorrow morning will be rough to shovel out.

I'm mid to south shore suffolk- near the airport- and we have barely anything but it is a slushy ice. I stepped out my back door to test it and yeah, slippery as shit.
But in terms of accumulation..I can still see my grass poking through the dusting of snow

In Northern NJ it has been consistent since 8am and piling up. It's depressing that the weather people were accurate. Seeing so much snow on the first day of spring is seriously making me ill.
I see no hope in sight for sunshine and warm weather.

I had to drive out east for work today and it was pretty much rainy the whole time until I got to this one spot. It looked like a coating on the road and out of nowhere, my truck just started doing 360's until I stopped facing the wrong way in the right lane. It was absolutely terrifying. Then, when I pulled my act together and started driving again, probably a half mile away, it was all rain again. Driving back on the LIE between exits 68-72 was white knuckle driving and then it was fine. I went down WFP to Sunrise and there was a horrific accident in Patchogue but I'm not sure if it was because of the weather or what. I'm in Babylon now and it's not really doing anything. There's about 1-2" of slush.

Wow! Well the map doubled!
I just went outside. Dh cleared the driveway at 9. I cleaned off the cats. It looks like we did nothing. It must have fallen hard and fast while we were sleeping.
