Curious...what happened to the cop?
Is this something he can pull out his gun for? If he's in trouble for this, does he want the kids brought up on charges just to prove his actions were right?

Re: Snowball leads to charges and accusations

I think the kids are full of crap - they all have priors - as a cop - you just DON'T know what to expect.

I'm going to go ahead and side with the cop on this.

punks

going to file a multimillion dollar lawsuit trying to get paid for being thugs

I do not necessarily agree with the lawsuit but the cop was wrong IMHO

I totally respect cops and the job that they do but a snowball, really????

Me, me, me,me, me! I want to be on the jury.
They accidentally hit a cop with a snowball? sure, sure, they did.

Cop shouldn't have pulled out his gun for a snowball.

As for the kids...You get nothing. You hit someone with a snowball, you didn't get hurt, he scared the bejesus out of you, you don't get a dime. Next time thing twice before "packing"

Again, I agree with Steph. I think the lawsuit is a waste of time, energy and money. I think they DELIBERATELY hit the man (not knowing he was a police officer) - but I think the cop TOTALLY overreacted by pulling out his gun. I appreciate that you 'don't know what to expect'. But his reaction was a bit over the top in my opinion. And prosecuting them for possession of a snowball is just stupid.

I think the officer overreacted.

BUT those "kids" (17, 19, 22???) should get NOTHING. WTH is a 22 year old doing throwing snowballs at people? Grow the f up. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Snowball leads to charges and accusations

Just to add...

I believe the lawsuit is pending because the kids are being prosecuted for assault, possession of a weapon, etc and face a year in jail.

And, this is after being booked and held for 36 hours...

love hearing the opinions

They should face some kind of charges-maybe not jail necessarily- it's easy to joke about a snowball but they really can cause injury- I remember being hit with one once and it felt like a baseball. And again, I'm just amazed at the ages of these idiots.

I'm also wondering why the video surveillance from that day is "unavailable" Chat Icon Chat Icon

I could have sworn I saw a video of this.
I was searching for it on youtube but nothing came up.

Just wanted to add, I think this suit is ridiculous. I'm sure the cop scared the sh!t out of them. And I'm sure that was his intent. But you know what. don't throw snowballs at people and you won't have to worry about how they are going to react.
Although, I do think this cop overreacted by pulling out his gun.

Unfortunatley, I'm sure these "kids" will walk away with some $$Chat Icon

Re: Snowball leads to charges and accusations

These kids are a bunch of punks. They deserve nothing.

In a situation like this, while it was just a "harmless" prank and maybe the cop overreacted, I side with the cop.

Re: Snowball leads to charges and accusations

I would think there is more to the story than what we are getting. I think the kids were probably being wise azzes and the cop over-reacted. Pulling a gun for a snowball is a bit over the top.

I think the multi-million dollar law suit is ridiculous and hopefully they get nothing.

I'm still going with they get nothing in a lawsuit but now the off-duty cop should get disciplinary action for drawing his gun without cause.

The video was clear it was no accident that they hit someone with a snowball. Maybe it was an accident that they hit an off-duty cop because they didn't know he was one.

I think the entire thing is blown ridiculously out of proportion on both sides.
