So after my post yesterday, I decided to wear a tight shirt today...

and I still feel like a fat arse and not a pregnant arse. Chat Icon

My scale continues to go up, but I still don't really have much of a real baby belly. All the evidence is in my boobs and my thighs.

I feel so bad about myself-- I cannot get past it. I don't buy into the fact that because I am pregnant I shouldn't care about what I eat, or how much weight I gain-- I cannot change my thinking or my perception of my body overnight just because I am pregnant.

I really need to find the energy to get my still-fat-arse to the gym-- I think that is what has really been my problem. I just hate that I feel so bad about how I look, and that just puts me in a bad mood and makes me not want to see people.

Re: So after my post yesterday, I decided to wear a tight shirt today...

I'm with ya...well, I was w/DS #1. I was very afraid of gaining, being out of shape, etc. I never bought into the eat what you want thing either...you're only going to left with the fat afterwards Chat Icon

What I did do was, eat as normal, walk as much as possible, go to the gym as much as possible (doing lightweight stuff, eliptical or arm weights)...and I did fine. I gained 22lbs and it was ALL gone less than 2 weeks after I had the baby. I was back into my regular jeans pretty much immediately.

Once you get to the point where you are obviously pregnant, you won't feel fat anymore, I remember. As soon as people started noticing my baby belly, I felt 1000x better. Also, I knew my arms and legs weren't getting fatter so I knew I couldn't really be getting real fat. Towards the end, 34, 35 + weeks, thats when I noticed my legs and arms chubb up a bit but that was allll water/blood, etc and it came right off afterwards.

I think you'll feel better about your body in a few more weeks, hang in there!!

And now, w/DS #2, I'm only 12 weeks, but feel like I was 16 or 17 weeks last time...borderline fat b/c the pregnancy is not too noticable. I know it will go away.

DOn't worry, as long as you eat healthy and have the right attitude (which it sounds like you do being that your not eating everything under the sun) I'm sure you wont gain that much Chat Icon

In some ways I love looking pregnant, but it's still hard to see all of the changes my body is going through. Yesterday was the first time strangers really noticed I was pregnant. I had been looking forward to it, but b/c so many people asked me when I was due yesterday, it made me feel huge. I didn't think my pregnant belly was that obvious. It just makes me worried how big I'm going to get and the comments people will make towards the end. Chat Icon

See, the thing is-- I see the rest of me getting FAT. My legs are definitely bigger-- and I feel like my hips are as well. I look in the mirror and I see a fat face looking back at me. This is why I am feeling so bad about myself.

I am really not eating badly-- I am just not the nazi I was before getting pg. The one major thing that has changed is my working out-- I was SOO exhausted throughout the first tri-- and even some days now, that I really didn't work out-- although, because of where I live, I do do a lot of walking. But, I don't work every day-- so, there are some days that I am even too tired to leave my apt.

Then we were away, and my schedule is just so off. So now, after not going [to the gym] for a while-- it's hard to motivate again-- but I know I HAVE to, for my own sanity even, not just to even be healthier. I know-- the key lies in the exercise. It always does!!!

I can understand what you're going through. I agree that being pregnant doesn't give you carte blanche to eat whatever you want. I commend you for eating sensibly. If working out will make you feel better, set aside 5 minutes and just do it! Even if it's only for 5 minutes, you'll feel better and start getting back into a groove. I worked out until right before I got pregnant and then had to stop. i was so sick and exhausted. I haven't worked out since but I walk everywhere. Walking a few miles definitely makes a difference for me.

Re: So after my post yesterday, I decided to wear a tight shirt today...

Same thing happened to me. I'm 22 weeks and have gained 14 pounds, and have only just popped now, probably the past week, but was freaking out about where this 14 pounds went to and now I finally see it....I gained most of my weight between 16-20 weeks (6 pounds) the rest was more gradual and for the past two weeks I've gained nothing, so honestly everything paces out in the end..you're also tall like me it seems, and we start to show later....

ETA: I'm eating relatively healthy and haven't gone insane just bc I'm pregnant and the weight just went on me in the beginning very easily as well...don't get upset, it really will all balance outChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
