so annoyed.. our hot water is running brown
& has been running brown for 2 hours now so I can't wash dishes but I need to finish before DS wakes from his nap

That happens to us too. Sometimes if we are down to the bottom of the hot water heater we get it. It is rusty...Do you live in a house or an apt? Call the water company and see if they are working on something in the area. That can cause it too.
