So, apparently, my planned C-section was a hot topic at a family gathering that I didn't attend

It seems that someone in my family is annoyed that I did not get their opinion on my need for a C-section, or the date of the C-section or what hospital to deliver at. She has issues with all of these things and she admitted that she has discussed it with other people, not just that one time. It's not like she has even called me during the pregnancy and it is not like she knows much at all about my medical history. Well, tonight I made it very clear to other family members that this person has no right to comment. I am actually glad that she has not said anything to my face because it will not be pretty when she does. This is someone that I try to be nice to but too many things like this happen and I decided long ago not to tolerate comments about this particular issue. Now, G-d forbid there is any complication, she will say that it was because I never asked for her sage advice. Chat Icon

It amazes me how people feel the need to voice thier "medical" experties and opinions when they are not dr's nor was thier opinion solicited.

Try to not let these people get to you, everyone always has SOMETHING to sayChat Icon Chat Icon

One thing I have learned through this pregnancy is that everyone feels the need to tell you the "right" thing to do, or about their awful experiences....like having a baby is not stressful enough! Obviously you know that you have to do what is right for you - Chat Icon

What did she get you pregnant?!!!! I mean what right does she have to voice so much. YOu do what you need to do for the good of yours and your baby's health. Don't give her the benefit of knowing shes upset you. Good luck. Congrats and God Bless.

One of my favorite quotes ever comes from the book Atlas Shrugged and it could not be more fitting here:

It is not advisable, [fill in name of your relative], to venture unsolicited opinions. You should spare yourself the embarrassing discovery of their exact value to your listener."

You should totally use this next time you talk to her!Chat Icon

So far I have not had a chance to say a thing b/c these conversations go on behind my back!!!!!!!!!!!! However, I will probably make the person cry when it comes up face to face. I will be seeing her before my scheduled date. I have asked some people to warn her that I do not want to hear it, but that may only make her more likely to try to prove her point (which is what? I am not sure).

Re: So, apparently, my planned C-section was a hot topic at a family gathering that I didn't attend

UPDATE: Just found out that the same person made some comments to my mother. She specifically told my mom that she knows how it should be done because she had 2 C-sections. Ok, one of her C-sections was 33 years ago and one 27 years ago and for a totally different reason than mine.
