So distaught--My furbaby was attacked my BFF's Dog (sorry a bit long)
My beautiful Scarlette (black lab / pointer mix / hound rescue) who just turned a year old on the 7th of January, was attacked by my best friend's 2 year old pitbull on Sunday
My best friend always brings her dog by my house. Her pitbull is very nice and loving. A mush if you may. You would never think he is a pitbull by his behavior. Her dog and my furbaby have been playing with each other since my puppy was 6 months old, so when my girlfriend asked me if she could bring her dog over I said "yes". They were playing nicely for hours. The only thing that my furbaby did was come towards me at the same time that my girlfriends pitbull was coming towards me. I guess Scarlette might have touch him by mistake and he turned around and started to bite her. OMG! I almost died right there. I am 7 weeks pregnant and I almost passed out! I saw blood everywhere. I started crying. My DH and my girlfriend separated the dogs. Actually, my baby was trying to run and he kept going at her I thought he actually took the eye out but thankfully it was not the eye. He pierced her right eyelid so far that her skin was hanging. He also took a tiny piece out of her ear. We rushed her to the emergency room (thankfully 15 minutes away). She was kept overnight. We had a surgeon do the surgery on her eye. He repaired her eyelid and her ear. We picked her up fron the emergency hosptital yesterday. The surgeon did such a great job, we are not even able to tell where the damage was. I still feel so bad. I don't know what happened. Her dog is such a nice dog and my dog didn't do anything to hers. He just snapped....
Thank you for letting me vent. I am still crying as I am writting this. My DH stayed home today to monitor her. She is must wear an e-collar for the next 4 days and have drops in her eye 4 x a day. She is still not fully herself. I feel so bad

OMG how scary. I wonder why the dog did that? I am glad your dog survived and is going to be ok. I know you are shaken up too but thankfully your baby is ok.
On an aside, is your friend offering to pay for the vet visits? I hope so.
