So, does this qualify me for incompetent mommy?
DS fell off the bed, head first, straight down. Our bed is almost as tall as him at 18 months old. I went to put lotion on him after his bath and he just flipped off the side, so fast! He cried for MAYBE 15 seconds, but he is in bed already and this happened about 45 minutes ago. The room is carpeted with soft padding... do you think I need to worry? I feel like the most incompetent mommy, why would I think that he wouldn't fall off the bed? What was I thinking??? I'm so scared that he is really hurt, but wouldn't he cry longer than he did?

Every kid has tons of falls. My DD has fallen off of my bed, off of her changing table, down almost an entire flight of stairs....it happens, but they are resiliant, and it is NOT your fault at all. It's kind of like a toddler right of passage!!

NO you are not incompetent!! Kids fall. My DD took a header off my friends kitchen chair onto ceramic tile. She's usually great on chairs and knows to sit. I turned my back for 1 minute to grab the baby and boom.
I'm sure he's fine. Try not to be so hard on yourself.
