SO Embarassed To Post This But Figured What The Heck, I Can't Be The Only Mom Who's Child Does or Has Done This...

Sorry for the TMI aspect of it but seeking any and ALL advice.

The past few months my DD has started (so hard to say it ) masturbating. I guess you still call it that at this age. She is almost three. It's not a "humping" thing either:) She actually rubs herself down there and REALLY gets into it My Mom, who is a therpaist tells me its completely normal, leave it alone and NEVER EVER make her feel uncomfotable for it(and all sites on the Internet say the same). She said ONLY if she goes to do it in a place other than home that I should explain it's private(doubt she'd understand this word at her age) and we only do that in our home, etc. I am DYING(and I've always been comfortable with sexuality)(until it was my own child, I guess). HELP!

People on this board put SOOOO much out there (more than ever lately) so I figured I'd step over my comfortability and seek your advice

ETA: We have a very loving family, meaning our DD is adored by everyone and given 100% attention and love so I can't imagine it's that she's "missing" something emotionally. I did also read that it can be stress but what stress can she have this young?

Although I don't have any experience with DD with this, I have heard about it and also heard its completely normal and to just leave it alone too.

They do it b/c it feels good plain and simple.....

I have 4 children...2 of which masturbated at that age. One fiddle her nips..the other "rocked".

She'll catch on when it's appropriate to do and when it's not.

DS will be 3 in December and I think he is starting to realize that it feels good to touch himself.

My DD did the rocking thing for a long time. She is almost 5 now and hardly does anymore but when she used to I told it was okay but she had to do it in her room. She was good with that.

My dd did this she'd call it giddy-upping. She seemed to do it constently. She just turned 4 and seems to have stopped!

My dd is nearly four and really into it this summer. At first I completely ignored it...but then my 7 yr old son was like?????? I do not know if he knew exactly what she was doing. But he yelled at her "That's inappropriate , STOP!" So we talked and I said that it was fine to do but she would have to go to her room to do it....we also have neighbors kids in our house everyday so no way could this go on. The only thing that concerns me about it is that she started doing it twice per day and nothing would stop her. She would always choose to go in private and continue over any other activity even eating ice cream sundaes. Otherwise I don't sweat it...But then I wonder if its normal that I think my DS7 have NEVER masturbated....I guess I will worry either way!LOL
