so how about this for a commute this morning..
This city is just rude.. I was on the e train this morning and for some reason I was awake.. so a pregnant lady gets on and no one gets up.. I let it go 2 stops and then I asked her if she wanted to sit for a lil while.. How sad is that I got up at 9 months for another of my kind.. Does no one see the 2 big bellies switching seats.. Then kw/ a stop to go someone got up for me.. Hello rude... so glad its over next Friday..

Unbelievable!! My husband is a stickler for holding doors and giving up his seat for elderly/pregnant folk. I am too but what is wrong with these men?? Are there any gentlemen left?? Chivalry is dead!!

if i was still commuting i would probably just ask people to move at this point...

Re: so how about this for a commute this morning..
Its funny you should post this- I was just noticing the exact opposite. Except for when I stand in the area where doors are-as soon as i started REALLY showing, someone ALWAYS offers me a seat.
Maybe its because I am very tall- you can't miss me- or because I don't need it every day - my daily commute is from Penn Station to Times Square- I usually take the train only 1 stop, so I don't need to sit down. But yesterday I was goign from 42nd to Park Place and this man was ahead of me to get into the train, and he stepped aside so I could be the first one in the train and I got a seat.
Or maybe its just the 2-3 line. When I would commuite from the Upper West Side I never saw a pregnant lady standing. People (including me) always offered her a seat.

People are very rude. I take the E train too and when i was coming home tonight, i was waiting at lexington ave and the E train pulled up and this lady shoved me to get to a seat, then she looks up as im standing by the poll with my belly and has an oh sorry look on her face, closes her eyes and decides to go to sleep. i was like are you kidding me? The guy sitting next to her shook his head and gave me his seat.

Ugh, here's another story for you. I was getting off the 7 train tonight and the conductor CLOSED the doors on my belly!!!!! I shoved my hands in the door and the guy behind me did too - and then proceeded to curse the guy out in my defense.

Re: so how about this for a commute this morning..
Not while I was pregnant but once when I was commuting into John Jay. I had tunnel vision, the chills and turned white as a ghost I was standing in the doorway I knew what was happening so I turned to the man in the 5 seater "do you mind if I sit I'm going to faint" His reply "Women's Lib ***** honey doesn't it!" I then feel to the floor nailing my head on the seat and the metal part cutting my head open a bit later I was woken upand that man was gone and have the lovely conducter telling me maybe I should get off and go to the hospital. He let me off at Mineola (I was so confused) and I got off and just sat there.
So yup their just rude and most of the ticket conductors are just as bad.

Re: so how about this for a commute this morning..
These stories are unbelievable people are so inconsiderate
When I was 8 months I was on the A train and actually had a seat, when I spotted this man who was on crutches and had a very large cast on his leg. The train was going really fast (you know like they do when they are trying to make up time it seems) and jerking back and forth. He was visably having a hard time holding on to all his stuff plus the pole, etc... I offered my seat and he took it. He was VERY appreciative. people ****
oh and there were handicap seats right under where he was trying to cling on, there was a various assortment of people who did not qualify to be sitting there!

It just gets worse when you have the baby. I'm one who tends to like to keep the handicapped bathroom stall open in case someone needs it. I don't mind waiting the extra few minutes.
Well in Airports and alot of stores (Target..etc) the Changing Table is in the Handicapped stall. When I flew by myself with Jack and the stroller I couldn't believe how many people took their sweet time in those stalls on cell phones, fixing makeup, brushing their hair...
And I can only imagine the fun trying to potty train him and having to wait in a long line because I know most of the women will forget how hard it is and if a little boy is dancing and holding it you should let him cut..
People ****.

Yes I'm OK thanks for asking. Luckilly I was able to put my hands out and block the doors from shutting and like I said, the man behind me put his hands in the door too.
But people are unbelievable.
