So how did the V-Day cooking go?
What did you make?
How did it come out?
Any RAVES? Recipes?

well, because of all the shoveling and train delays we ended up having macaroni with sauce. but it was a pleasant night none the less.

Re: So how did the V-Day cooking go?
everything was awesome- i mean really awesome!
the cream spinach came out great the baked potatoes were delicious the broccoli was great and the pan seared filet mignon was out of this world! i heated olive oil in a frying pan for about 2 minutes.
in the meantime i had the oven preheated to 400 degreed.
the steaks cooked in the pan for another 2 minutes on one side only.
then i took the pan off of the stove and put it into the oven for 8 minutes (not moving the steak at all)
when i served it, i flipped the steak over and served it seared side up
DELICIOUS!!!!
the only flop was my molten cakes. i made them ahead of time in the little ramekins but they just didnt come out the way i wanted. oh well, they still tasted great

Re: So how did the V-Day cooking go?
Due to the weather and our work schedules, I prepared a "gourmet" meal of grilled cheese and tomato, soup, and seasoned oven fries! I had full intentions of making a "special" meal, but it didn't work out that way!

Re: So how did the V-Day cooking go?
I made Lobster/melted butter with baked potatoes / sour cream.
Everything came out really well. Because of the weather and shoveling I was on a time crunch so I microwaved the potatoes for about 8 minutes then put them in the oven at 425 for about 15 minutes, perfectly crispy and my husband had no idea they were microwaved.
The lobsters came out terrific. I just boiled them, next time I want to try broiling instead.

aww, that's too bad about the weather. but great ingenuity for putting something together.
if you cook this weekend, let us know how it goes.
love the lobster and crispy potatoes!
Hey, Porkchop! The filet mignon method sounds really professional. Bet it was excellent. I've never tried to make filet mignon. Sounds like the way to go.
we made cheese fondue.

Mrs PorkChop - your filet sounds delish! I am definitely going to try that sometime soon!
I made pulled pork based on a recipe someone posted recently and a side of home-made french fries! Yum!
Then I made Toll House Pie for dessert.
