So I did! The NYC half marathon!!!
Well, its official. I am a half-marathon runner!!
In April, I ran the Run as One 4 mile. It was my first race. I didn't know how I would finish. My sister suggested we run the half marathon and high on the race, I said sure!!
So I started training a few weeks later when we each realized the other was serious. And less than four months later I went from running 3 miles to 13!!!
It was hot as helll yesterday. I ran with my sister for 4 miles- and then she wanted to go faster so I told her to go ahead. I ran the rest at my own pace, which was much better for me.
And I finished!! it took a while. I thought I lost a toenail in the process (I didn't). But I finished!!!! And it was amazing!! When we turned off the park, and also when we turned onto 42nd street, I got so choked up. I actually had to walk for a minute because I was getting so emotional and crying while running doesn't work.
Its truly amazing what the human body can do!!!

congratulations! i thought about you when I saw ABC televised the race on Sunday night.
It's no wonder that the half is becoming the most popular running event - it's long enough to be challenging, but it doesn't feel like you have to race if you don't want to.
I have definitely gotten choked up in races...usually when I realize that I am going to reach the goal I set for myself.
