So I emailed a real estate agent about an apartment
and I am still over what he thinks I should do to move to Queens-
since there is an apartment available Aug 1st- I should take it according to him
Pay $1750 for the 3 months I can't live there while I pay $1710 to live in LB
then pay him 15% of a years rent
then pay 2 months sercituy
then $1500 condo fees- for the gym and poll
then 1 months rent up front
that's over $10K to move into apartment-
his repsonse is timing is everything-

Leave him a message that he can get back to you on August 2nd when NO ONE has taken him up on his brilliant () idea.
You just have to laugh sometimes.

Beth, try seeing if you can call the management company. A couple of realtors pulled this kind of stuff on me here in Long Beach and when I called the management company, they happened to have something available. When I had mentioned to the realtor I may have found something on my own, she was like "Oh we have a few in that building available - you should have told me" and I was thinking to myself "Yeah, I am going to pay you a month's rent fee when I can get it for no fee at all!"
Good luck !!! I'm sure there will be people moving in and out between now and November and something will become available.

I'm sure - I have yet to pay a fee - not in NYC- did it all myself and not in LB
I don't mind paying the fee - since the buildings I like are mostly condos- and I might need an agent- but that's a little nuts

Re: So I emailed a real estate agent about an apartment
its funny b/c before we rented this apt, we looked at another one and they wanted $3600 just to move in. i knew we would have to pay something, but we were like we are not paying almost 4k just to move in.
