FAO Schwarz. My DD loves going in there. When she was that age, she'd shriek and grab at all the stuffed animals.
Central Park Zoo and Children's Zoo.
Do a few exhibits at the Museum of Natural History (Since the admission is "suggested", I usually give $5 to go in. I figure we aren't spending the entire day or seeing it all, so why not?)
The carousel

Where are you? There are tons of things to do in the city.
On the upper west side (where I live), at 10 months I took DD to the Children's Museum (83rd b/w Bway and Amsterdam), The Museum of Natural History (Columbus between 79th and 81st). Even art museums. Jordana loved this one exhihit at the Moma on DaDa art when she was about 6 months old. I would just stick her in the bjorn and she would have a blast.
There are also tons of parks and playgrounds around the city and in central park. I can recommend some on the upper west side.

Activities for kids in NYC
Central park zoo, there is a carousel near the children's zoo if I remember correctly - Metropolitan museum - many kids like to just look at the colors and they have some other fun stuff - they often have activities and things for kids to do. Children's museum natural history museum FAO Schwartz the disney store is near that as well The south street seaport is a nice place to walk around
Is the toys r us in times square still there? They had a ferris wheel and some other fun things she might like to look at.
