So, I is the letter of the week. Can you make any other suggestions? (added finished project photo)
I was planning on taking a 3 and a half in jewerly box thing (ya know the ones you get a necklace in or something. I have a spare empty one.
Taping a ribbon to the bottom and to the lid, then tape the box to the paper. Inside the box I was going to have a paper that said I is for Inside. On the outside of the box on top it would say (open) for the teacher to know.
Also was going to take a ice cream cone and put a ball of tissue paper (pink) inside it to look like Ice cream and tape that to the page and say I is for ice cream.
But I wonder if the cone will surive or hold well to the page.
Thoughts?
Alternatives?
Age group is 3-4yr olds.

Hmm, you could make an igloo.
Ball up some paper. Cut the cardboard toilet paper roll in half (not long ways). Tape 1/2 tube to paper, then glue cotton balls all over top and sides.
ETA: I don't get what you are trying to do with the jewelry box. I can't visualize it.

Umm, lets see.
What about making a igloo out of sugar cubes, or maybe make a hat to be a indian, something with a ruler and a Inch worm or maybe something with ice and ice cube trays.

I like the box idea. I was thinking then you could also put pictures of different "I" words in the box. I was thinking iguana, infant, invitation, Iowa, iris, ivy, iron, etc.

Imagine this (in silver with no cotton) Taped to a paper. Inside the box it says "I is for inside" outside it just says "(open)"

I like the inside idea!
Or take a larger box such as a shoebox and find/print pictures of other "I" things such as: iguana igloo ice cream island instruments infant ice cubes insect
to put inside the box!

Are you sure that I is the letter of the week?!
I'm a lazy mom so I'd probably just do something easy like draw a picture of an ice cream cone

LOL
Yes, I'm sure. She sent an email to all of us (this time we got it) Vowels first A, E, I, O, U then the alphabet minus the vowels so B, C, D, F etc. But I guess we're skipping E because it was supposed to be last week? I'll ask after D! LOL
Here email: -------------------------------- To make this easier on everybody, we’ll be doing vowels first (a, e, i, o, u). This Friday we’ll be doing letter “i”. After “u”, we’ll start with the consonants, in alphabetical order, skipping the vowels, of course, so the first one will be “b”. -------------------------------------------------

Plastic dollar store bug for Insect
Tiny plastic or pom pom spider for "Itsy Bitsy Spider"
Get a popsicle stick and cut out an ice pop shape from construction paper and glue it on for ice pop

I like your "inside" idea. Draw an eye and point to the "iris" Write sloppy on some paper for "illegible"
Can I just add that I think it's total bullsh!t that you have to do these freaking projects? God knows YOU are doing most of it. Like YOU don't have enough going on as it is that you have to stop every week to do this. AND put thought into it! Just what you feel like doing after completing the rat race every day. And it only gets harder...my SD comes home from school with projects (construct the eiffel tower out of toothpicks, make a leaning tower of pisa with only biodegradeable objects, grow a plant with Gatorade (yes W T eff) etc.) and it ends up being a whole to-do. It's so annoying! My vent is over. I'm clearly projecting.

Re: So, I is the letter of the week. Can you make any other suggestions?
Hubby nixed the 'inside' box idea. Said it was too much but here's our igloo
I ate a pineapple cup during lunch. Looked at it and said "BINGO" cleaned it, put it upside down on a paper. Then took the inside of a roll cut it out and 'formed' the door way. Covered it in white paper. Then hubby, AJ and I all made little balls out of cotton balls. I slathered in glue and let her put them on. She loved that part.
I printed up the letter and words, let her color then cut out the igloo from the other page I was working on and glue/taped it on.
So here's our finished project. took about 10mins.

Re: So, I is the letter of the week. Can you make any other suggestions? (added finished project photo)
Thanks.. I was super excited about it. She loved making little balls of cotton. Hubby wanted to use marshmallows but my luck someone would try to eat one. This way was more fun. She kept trying to go ‘inside’ it LOL
I walked in this morning with her project and the teacher was like “Good Job… (pause) Mom (said ironically)” I said “No AJ did it with me and she did most of it herself.” Even AJ looked at her like Hey I did it. I may think of the idea but I make sure AJ can help or the idea is nixed and she MUST help. We talked about Eskimos, ice, cold, snow and igloos and penguins as we made our Igloo. She wanted to make a penguin but I said no, which is why I offered that she paint one instead. Teacher backed down and said “Well you are always so creative and that’s a great lesson with the penguins”
The director walked in to see the project too. Asked how we made the little balls and I said I remember you saying her practical skills activities included making small balls of clay so we let her making small balls of cotton from big ones. Teacher looked at me like “you remembered that?” ha! Director didn’t seem surprised at all and said “You made her count them too didn’t you” of course but only the big cotton balls! LOL AJ was standing there (Hubby had caught up) and she was telling them both about the penguins and how they can go inside the igloo. Ha!
So I’ve had a good morning so far.
Gotta love when your kid doesn't leave ya hanging (cause she has before)
