So, I know there is a song, "Stand By Your Man", But.....

When your man tries to hire someone to kill you, I think thats a sign to steer clear of your man!! I can't believe that she could stand by him. This would be one of those unforgivable, grounds for divorce things for me!!

Despite charge in murder-for-hire plot, wife stands by husband

Santhosh Paul's wife, Tina, continues to support him despite allegations that he arranged to have her murdered, a friend of the couple said Friday.

"Tina is backing him up 100 percent," said Bejoy Samuel, 29, of Yonkers. He attended Paul's court conference in Mineola Friday, where Paul's defense attorney was expected to ask the judge to allow him to be released on bail. The case was adjourned to Jan. 9.

Meanwhile, Paul, 31, of North Bellmore, continues to be held at the Nassau County jail in East Meadow without bail where he's been since his arrest late Tuesday after authorities said he gave a down payment for the murder to an undercover detective posing as a hit man.

Assistant District Attorney Anne Donnelly thinks Tina Paul will change her mind once she sees hours of video of her husband hashing out details of the plot and doling out $2,500 in cash for the job. Donnelly said she's been trying to contact Tina Paul so that she can view the evidence.

"We've left messages on her cell phone," Donnelly said. "We can't get in touch with her."

Samuel said the Pauls have a strong, six-year marriage and are role models in their church. "A lot of people look up to them as a couple and as church leaders," he said.

Paul's attorney, Celia Gordon of Commack, also said Tina Paul is standing by her husband. "I'm not going to speak for her, but she is supporting him," she said.

Donnelly said she understands that the situation is a lot for Tina Paul to absorb. "She's in shock and she doesn't want to believe it's true," Donnelly said.

OMG...I hope she comes to her senses eventually. It can be so hard to process that information when it goes against everything you believe to be true. She is probably just in denial right now.

Call me crazy but I'm sure he doesn't love you.

Some people find it hard to tell when to move on but I think when your spouse takes "a hit" out on you.... ummmm... yeah, that's a definite signChat Icon

What I am wondering is if she is being pressured or even threatened by his family. They were an arranged marriage!! She is probably too scared to leave!!

That's what I"m leaning towards. She might be scared right now; we do not know what has gone in in her home prior to this. That, combined with the utter shock of the situation is probably making it hard for her to believe right now. I think once she actually sees the tape of him attempting to do this, she'll make a move.

I don't personally think it has anything to do with her feeling the need to stay because there aren't any men out there, it goes far deeper than that.

As for him, he's an animal. How in the world can one justify wanting his spouse killed in the first place, let alone wanting it done quickly before Christmas as to not interrupt his holiday celebration? Amazing, simply amazing. How about getting a divorce buddy if you don't like your wife.

That could very well be it, or she has been in such an abusive realtionship for so long she is completely brain-washed.

I agree with you. I also think culture might be coming into play here too. I'm not saying anything to knock anyone's culture so I hope nobody takes it that way but if the marriage was arranged, she might be in a situation right now that leaving your spouse for whatever reason will bring shame upon your family.
