So, I put frontline plus on my cats...
because they somehow got fleas (even though they are indoor cats). They only had one or two fleas each, as I searched their bodys with a flea comb from top to bottom. Anyway, so I put Frontline plus on both of them, one cat is now flea free, the other cat WAS flea free for two days, but now I just found a new one on him. The only thing I can think of is that the flea free cat is skinny adn the one I found a flea on now is huge. Should I put more frontline on him? Ugg. I hate fleas!

When did you put it on? I think they say you should not put it on more then once a month because it is medication and can be very bad for their system. I have also read that it can take a few months to be completely flea free.
Good luck! We have one cat now that is indoor/outdoor and I hate having to put it on my indoor cat. But, better then fleas I guess.

Re: So, I put frontline plus on my cats...
you can't use frontline again, you can only use it every 26 days.
You can call your vet and see if they can prescribe something like Revolution which is a one time pill you give the cat and it will kill the fleas, larvae and eggs all at one and can be used in combination with the frontline.
One of our cats, who was a rescue, was BADLY infested with fleas adn we did the frontline/revolution combo and it worked great.
I would also suggest bug bombing the house (all animals and humans have to be out of the house for a few hours) because the house and carpeting can contain fleas, larvae and eggs and if you don't kill those the cats will keep getting infested.
Its a PITA, I know, but you need to stop the cycle completely EVERYWHERE!!

Re: So, I put frontline plus on my cats...
Don't put any more on them. It can be bad for them to treat too soon a second time. The Frontline helps with the fleas, but it is a built up system, so it takes a few months of applications to reach full potency/effectiveness.
If you are sure it is only a flea or two, you could ask your vet for Capstar. You give it to the cat, and it will kill all the fleas on the cat. As long as no fleas are in your house (which would then just hop on your kitty), hopefully that would do the trick and keep them flea-free until the next treatment.

Re: So, I put frontline plus on my cats...
Thanks for the responses. Just another question, though, isn't the Frontline supposed to kill any fleas that bite them within that 26 day period? I mean, it's only been 3 days since I put it on. The first time I checked him, I found two dead fleas and no more, then today, I found a live one. Shouldn't it die? If I had an outdoor cat, wouldn't that dose of Frontline convceivably kill any fleas that get on him? I understand that it takes time to build up, but now I'm confused. Ugg. I'll take your advice and call the vet, though for that pill. Ugg.

Re: So, I put frontline plus on my cats...
Frontline isn't 100% effective....
We use it on our dogs every 26 days and we do a lot of hiking and I still pull ticks off of them ALL THE TIME!!
Its suppose to help reduce the incidence of flea and/or tick infestation occuring but if you are starting out with an infestation its not the right stuff to get rid of it, that is what "Revolution" the pill is for.
Think of frontline as more preventative maintenance!!

Neither is Sentinel, I found out a few weeks ago. I think it probably helps but is not a completely effective solution. Like birth control.

Def call their vet. There is special pill the cat can take to kill the fleas. But make sure you told the vet that you gave your cats frontline.

Frontline is also different for different weights. Did you make sure to give the bigger cat the Frontline appropriate to his/her weight?
Frontline doesn't work right away but within two weeks you will have zero fleas. Just don't put more on.

You have to let it build up in their system. Sillies! It'll work, PATIENCE

I thought frontline takes a while to go through the flea life cycle?
How the heck did they get fleas if they are inside though... that would drive me crazy!
