So I talked to my doctor (re: chemical pregnancy)
I'm so confused. I'm CERTAIN I have my period here. It is clear as day. I took a digital yesterday morning before AF came and it said pregnant, then in the afternoon it said not pregnant. This morning, another one - not pregnant.
Anyway, when I went to my 'confirmation' OB appt last week, they took a urine test (BFP)- NO blood. I didn't understand that at all. He did an internal exam to check and make sure it wasn't ectopic. Then I was due to return 2 weeks later for a full appt.
So....today he finally gets back to me (after I called this morning) and I tell him everything that's going on and he wants a blood test. I'm almost annoyed at this point. I'm trying to move on here. He says the blood tests are just more accurate. Well, hello, why didn't you take the blood last week? Maybe you would have seen something then?
Ugggghhhh...does anyone find this strange? He wants me to have blood drawn and then I'd go back again in a few days. I want to move on here. Is this all really necessary? He did say it could be anything and he just wants to be sure. He never called it a 'chemical pregnancy' but he did say it could be a spontaneous miscarriage due to blighted ovum, etc...he also asked if I noticed any tissue in my blood. What doesn't he get? My period was just 4/5 days late!
I guess this is more of a vent than anything. Thanks for listening.

This happened to me as well. They are taking your blood today and then again in a few days to make sure your pregnancy hormone levels are decreasing.
It is frustrating and very hard. Hang in there...

The one thing I can tell you is that my sister had very heavy bleeding early in her 2nd pregnancy. She was positive she was having a miscarriage.
Turns out, she had a cyst inside her uterus that had ruptured. Completely harmless except for the bleeding, and her baby was fine.
Lots of coming your way!

Thanks so much. Yeah I guess he just has to check for just about anything. I'm just annoyed they never took blood to begin with.
I dunno...I don't want to get my hopes up that that's what it is. I'm certain this is my period anyway....so I guess I'll suck it up and go for these appointments. I just hate this cuz I was starting to accept that we're just gonna try again in a couple weeks....it's all so confusing.
Thank you!

I'd be annoyed and confused that he didn't take blood to begin with. I feel like drs now take the most important thing to us too lightly, IMO. I am sorry you are going through this, but just do the bloodwork so you can get a clear and accurate picture of what is going on. If you don't feel comfortable with your doc, you could always look for a new one who is more caring or considerate to your situation. Good luck

I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had 3 m/c's so I understand the frustration, anger, pain..etc.
The reason they need to do blood work is to make sure your level decreases to below 5. If it stays above that then they would have to do a D&C to make sure everything is gone.
If you have any questions please feel free to FM me.
