So it is totally normal...

to break down and cry over things that normally wouldn't bother you right? Last night at 3am Chelsea wouldn't stop crying while I changed her diaper and I started sobbing and then today a friend made a comment about work that I know makes total sense but I am still sitting here hysterical. This is normal right? Chat Icon

Re: So it is totally normal...

Totally normal Nicole. For the first 3-4 weeks I would cry for no reason at all. Happy things, sad things, silly things, everything made me cry. I thought I was losing my mind. It gets better and easier. If you need to talk, FM me. Chat Icon

Yes, it's normal.

If you can, when DH gets home, do something by yourself for an hour. Take a bath, go for a walk, watch a couple episodes of SATC by yourself.... I never thought that would make much of a difference in how I was feeling in those early days but it did.

Re: So it is totally normal...

Oh yes. I cried so much at times right after DS was born, often for no reason, soemtimes because I got frustrated with myself because I couldn't figure out how to calm him.

It got better for me around 6 wks, though I still cry easily over things that never bothered me before, especially mothers and sons. I was bawling when I read this story in Newsday the other day about a woman whose son was stillborn.

It will get better!Chat Icon

So not funChat Icon but totally normal. I DO NOT miss those early days of constant anxiety coupled with overwhelming sadness. I was so miserable.

Absolutely normal. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would break down and cry all the time. It's the hormones and the overwhelming "newness" of it all. It will stop in time...or at least change. I still get teary eyed over DS but for different reasons. He used to cry so much and I would sob...now he's just getting to be such a big boy and I have some tears of joy over it...often.

I do that normally.....Of course, this is a huge adjustment, very stressful - tiring - and your levels are all over the place. You'll feel better soon.
