should i even try to salvage it. Its been sitting in a bag outside bc I dont have the heart to throw it out. The dress is ok but the fancy onsie that goes with it, it full of poop. She had it all over her back and the back of her arms Chat Icon

Do I wash it by itself in the washing machine or do I just chuck it?

Can u wash it off in the sink first and then try to put it in the washing machine?

I know it sounds gross, but that is what I would do!

Re: So Katelyn pooped through her Thanksgiving dress - WWYD?

Here's what I do in such a case and we went through a nasty week of crazy diareah poops and vomit last week...

Step 1: Toss in washing machine with dreft and Chlorox 2 for colors.

DO NOT PUT IN DRYER

Step 2: now that clothes are at least tolerable to handle, hand wash with Chlorox 2 and water in the sink... rub the stain areas hard. Rinse, but not completely. Then put the clothes in a small tub (those one's we get from the hospital to bathe them the first few weeks are great if you still have it) throw in some more Chlorox 2... and add water. Let soak overnight.

Step 3: Back into the washing machine with Dreft. Check for stains, if all is well, toss in dryer.

I've used this method even for dried on stuff that I couldn't get to right away. Good luck with it.

The longer it sits, the less of a chance you have it coming out. I would just toss it in the washing machine and if it doesn't come clean, toss it.

It is worth a shot....I have gotten a lot of Poop out just by soaking the item first before I washed it. I think in 14 months, I have only lost 1 onsie....

It happens a lot during teething! Good Luck!

DD pooped through lots of stuff. I'd rinse it out thoroughly, keep it wet until I could wash it and use dreft stain remover spray or oxiclean for baby spray then wash as usual. 99% of the stains got removed completely.

here's what I do when there's a blow-out Chat Icon

rinse off the 'chunks' Chat Icon in cold water. pretreat stains with a dash of detergent... then fill a sink with piping hot water and an enormous amount of oxyclean + a dash of detergent. add clothes and soak
so far, I haven't lost a clothing item yet!

Re: So Katelyn pooped through her Thanksgiving dress - WWYD?

DS has done that numerous times!! i rinse it off as best i can in the sink with hot water, then i soak it with shout, leave it for a while, and wash it. it usually comes out, but if not, i should it again BEFORE it goes in the dryer, let it sit, and wash it a second time.

if it hasn't come clean after two washes i would toss it.

SOAK it in OXY CLEAN. Then WASH it.

I used it on dresses that were heirlooms and over 40 years old. White dresses had majorly yellowed and they are now pure white again. You have nothing to lose.
