I went to my dentist first and he referred me to an oral surgeon. DH did the same.

if you know of an oral surgeon you want to use, you can schedule directly with them. they'll probably do a consult first if you don't have a referal from a general dentist.

My dentist recommended an oral surgeon when I needed them out.

yup thats what i did. my dentist gave me referrals but none of them accepted the insurance that we have. so i did some internet research and asked a fellow LIF'er for some inside info on certain surgeons and narrowed it down to one that i liked. i booked the appt, never had a consult, just called and went in and had them out.

i was terrified too, but i elected to be knocked out and really it wasnt bad at all. i remember nothing! and even the pain afterwards was tolerable as long as you had the pain killers. really the hardest part of the whole experience was not being able to eat certain things!Chat Icon
