So much for that buyers market

A woman I work with has TWO full price offers on her house in Bayshore, its been on the market for about a month. And she says every house she falls in love with has offers already, and she thinks they are close to asking.

Also, there were two houses for sale in my neighborhood that were on the market for about two weeks before they sold. Haven't found out for how much, but they werent in a rush to sell, so im thinking close to asking.

What has everyone's experiences been?

were these homes all priced to sell? I think that really matters. They may have been more realistic sellers.

Re: So much for that buyers market

I think it has always been the case that when the house is priced to sell, it will move quick. Coupled with this being the traditional busy season...I'm sure there will be a lot of hustling for priced-to-sell houses.

There are a ton of houses for sale in my area...lots of OHs. Oh how I miss those days.

No - I thought her house was overpriced - its right on the spur drive to the ss state. I figured she would get $25-$30K less than what she was asking, but she has two full price offers

Re: So much for that buyers market

I think if a house is in great shape its going to sell. There are so many that are dated and just in dirty, dire condition that were selling but now are the ones sitting.

I live on Spur Dr. in Bay Shore.
Would you mind FMing me if you know more specifically where she was and what she sold for?
We rent, and the house owner wants to sell- I'm curious what he could get for it.

Re: So much for that buyers market

I kept saying this when we were buying. Any house we looked at that was going for what other houses in the area recently sold for, that needed little work, either had offers on it or we were outbid. We paid full asking price for our house and there we three other offers on the house when we made ours.(we found this out at closing)

Re: So much for that buyers market

I have to agree with all of you. We're buying in central LI and thought that we could find something (a good deal). Luckily we have property that we are selling because our new house is going for far more than we are selling for.

I think we might have paid a little too much because I think it was listed high. I think we did this because there are houses that need a lot of work. After putting that money into it - we should just have bought a higher prices home with less work.

We lost a house because of a low offer and we really didn't want that to happen again. Houses are selling. Our new house was on the market for 3 weeks. Hopefully we can sign contracts this week.

If the house is priced right, it will sell.
