So my car failed inspection...
it's ten yrs old so would be difficult to sell - what do you do with an old car? where can I bring it? can I get any $ for it?

Re: So my car failed inspection...
what are the problems that made it fail? and is it $$$ to fix them?
we used to have a 97 sentra that failed a few times due to minor emissions problems. easily fixable.
i think craigslist might be a good way to sell it. i myself will be looking for a cheap clunker kind of car so DH can drive to the trainstation after we have our baby. we'll need that 2nd car...so im sure theres probably someone in the market for an older car.

Not sure that I would sell it on craigslist where someone could get into an accident. It failed inspection for a reason. Which leads me to believe it is unsafe. If you want to sell it, I would fix the problems first. Otherwise, I am sure a junkyard would take it for parts.

You could donate it for a tax writeoff or turn it in towards a new car.

Re: So my car failed inspection...
DH had a vehicle that wouldn't pass inspection. I dumped $2k into it trying to get it to pass until we finally decided it was time to buy a new vehicle. We traded it in and only got $1k for it, so I lost $1k in the process.
If you want to keep the car and it's a small inexpensive probelm that can be fixed, you may want to go that route. Otherwise try trading it in. Donating it is another good option someone else posted.
