So my gas detector went off this morning

we just purchased it a few weeks ago and put it in the basement

Dh was on the train so I called him and he said he was sure it was nothing...I didn't smell anything. I disconnected it.

So, I went to work but couldn't stop thinking about it. I mean, if my house blows up fine Chat Icon , but I was worried about my bird.

So I told my boss I was running home to check it again (thank goodness I have an awesome boss), and it was still going off when I put the battery in.

I called Keyspan and they came very quickly...I have multiple gas leaks!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had a new gas burner, hot water tank and CAC installed less than 2 years ago, and there ar THREE leaks coming from it!!!!! Plus, my meter is leaking..

W T F???

The company that installed it is on its way over...the Keyspan guy told me they used flex pipe where it should have been solid...I AM FUMING!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If an alarm goes off it's for a reason. Thank goodness you went back to check.

Too many people have died from carbon monoxide poisioning because they thought it was nothing.

Glad to hear this had a happy ending.

WOW...thank goodness you went home to check it. Isn't it funny we get these things to protect us but when they go off we assume it's nothing. Like my office...the fire alarm goes off and nobody flinches or moves.

Glad you found the leaks!
