So my kid is on the waiting list for public school
Uggh! I knew this was a possibility. I live in the city in a very coveted district and since the economy tanked, this public school has been "in demand." there was a wait list last year and everyone got in, but still.
So she is number 9. I'm pretty sure she'll get in. But now I actually have to worry about it. We also have to hear from the charter school and gifted and talented testing... so there may be other options.
But a waiting list? Sheesh.

NYC is different. Everyone gets in but not necessarily in their neighborhood.
Number 9 sounds pretty good to me but it's nice to have a backup. I can't believe she's off to school!

Our district on LI has six schools. We were told that if we wait too long to register, the class may fill up and you'd have to go to another school in the district and not necessarily the one for which we are zoned.
Hope you get into your school!
