So nervous about work...

I ladies... Im 8weeks, feeling nauseous, bloated, exhaused and just all around not myself. Im a teacher and will be going back to work tomorrow and I am terrified. I dont know what Im going to do if I have to puke while im teaching or if I start to feel sick. Im so worried I wont be able to concentrate and get to the bathroom for the many pee trips I take every hour. How are you girl (especially teachers) dealing with all this at work? Thanks... soo scared.

I see that you are early, and might not want to come out, but I used to be someones bathroom break, whenever I was in the hallway. I would stop by her room to see if she was OK.

I dont know if you have someone close by your room that you could confide in, this way they could keep an eye out for you.

Re: So nervous about work...

I became pregnant this past January and I was teaching 9th grade. I didn't tell the students until around 10 weeks. So in the beginning I would just say I wasn't feeling well. I had nausea and really bad headaches. When I first found out I was pregnant I told one teacher that I am trust. This helped me because if I needed anything I could always call her and she understood. I also made sure I had water in the classroom to keep me hydrated and little snacks in the classroom to help with nausea.

I promise it will get better. Once you start sharing your news with teachers and students they will understand and be there to help you. Also remember that the nausea will not last forever. I mean when I was first pregnant I thought it would because I was so sick, but it didn't. You will have much more energy and feel better in yoo second trimester. At least you already made it through 2 months. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hope this helps. Feel free to send me FM if you need to vent about anything.

I lucked out and had an assistant in the classroom across the hall that would watch my class while I ran to the bathroom. See if there is a teacher next door or across that hall that can watch them/listen out for them for those few minutes. In a few weeks you won't have to use the bathroom as much. Good luck!

Re: So nervous about work...

I found out I was pregnant in the beginning of May. I taught high school and didn't want anyone knowing until I came back in september. Unfortunatley I didn't plan on having morning sickness.

What I did was tell a few select people that I trusted. Luckliy everytime I felt sick I was able to call someone to cover my class while I ran to the bathroom. Usually first period was the worst. I left it everyday for the rest of the school year to puke. The kids never caught on!

This year is going to be a problem though because I am teaching 3 in a row. I have already started telling people to prepare for calls because I cannot hold it for that amount of time!

I am completely in the same boat! I go back Wed. and am freaking out. I am 10 wks and like you am nauseous (luckily not throwing up), bloated, tired and I've been getting daily headaches. I am so scared that I am going to get really sick and need to vomit and the pee breaks are also a concern. I am peeing like nobody's business lol. Ayway, my grade level knows and luckily I am close with them so if I need them to wacth my class, etc I know they will help. Hopefully you will be able to do the same. Best of luck!!Chat Icon

Re: So nervous about work...

luckily for me I have no morning sickness. I have become one of the lucky ones. But I am nervous becuase I am keeping a secret at work because I am in my ninth week. I really do not want to tell anyone until October. So for me trying to keep the secret and teach three in a row at the end of the day is going to be the killer.

Good lUck to all the teachers!!!!!!!

I'm going back tomorrow too, at 30+ weeks. I am worried about standing all day - I have 3 in a row in the morning (in 3 different rooms) and I know it's going to be tough!

Re: So nervous about work...

I know exactly how you feel. I ended up coming out to my grade level and principal a lot earlier than I wanted to because I was so sick. I was about 8 weeks at that point. As for the bathroom, if there is a person with a TA in your hall that might help. I had one last school year and I ended up sharing her with 2 other fellow preggo teachers in my hall. Stock up on lemon drops...that helps if you feel sick.

Good luck! If it makes you feel any better I'm going back tomorrow and I'm 39 weeks 3 days. I'm just hoping my water doesn't break in front of my 22 kindergartners. Chat Icon

I'm soo nervous. I teach kindergarten and I'm 30 weeks. I'm just afraid I can't do it. I usually have a great memory but this preggo brain is killing me. I can't remember what I did last year. I'm very anxious and have been crying all weekend. Chat Icon

Re: So nervous about work...

I'm really worried about this too! We haven't told anyone but one couple who are our best friends and also PG. I'm only about 5 weeks and won't even see the doctor until October, so we're not even telling our family yet. I'm scared that I'm going to feel sick but not be able to tell anyone! I guess I"m going to see how it goes and if I start feeling really sick maybe we will start telling our families, and then I'll feel ok about telling at least one or two close friends at work.
