So Sad..we have no place to live.

Well My boyfriend told his land lady and she said she needed time to think about it to see if she would let me move in and she would raise the rent a little bit. Althought it is a samll apartment we were going to make it work and she charged him harldy nothing so we would be able to make it work. Well she told him today that it can not happen. Now I am so upset, I am no married, pregnant, have no place to live and still have not told my parents. I feel like I am going to explode. All the apartments for rent are so out of our budget.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

I am so sorry you and your boyfriend have to go through this right now. I think you guys should tell your parents that you are pg and see how they react. IF they get upset, after they cool down they may help you guys out, or they might surprise you and be very supportive.

don't be offended, but right now I think you guys need to sit and talk with your parents and discuss the future. You and your boyfriend need to have a gameplan set, how you will support the baby, feed the baby, where you will live and what you guys will do together as a couple to manage as a family. It's going to be tough, but you have an innocent life inside you who depends only on you and it's dad to give it what it needs.

I agree with PP, you should let your parents know and work together to find aplace to live.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this and I hope it all works out for you.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

letting them no we have no place to live will just make them more upset. I wanted to have my whole plan layed out before I told them so they would at least feel better about the situatio knowing we had a plan.

Do you live on Long Island? You may want to check Craig's List they have some decent apartments on there but alot of them are through Real Estate's and I know you had said you are tight for money right now. I agree with the others, you may want to tell your parents because you may be surprised with the outcome. Maybe they will help you find a place to live.

How far along are you? I agree that you should tell your family. The longer you hold out on them, I think the more upset they will be... and you really need their support at a time like this.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

I am 7 weeks today. I know I have to tell my family that is a given, but another reason i am dreading it is because they do not know I am back with my Boyfriend. I am a secretive person and we have broken up a lot througout the years and Usually it was my fault and I would not tell anyone they would just know from him not coming around. This time I wanted to make sure we could work before telling them it has been two years since they saw him we gotten back but have broken up and they never knew. So not only do I have to tell them I am pregnant I have to tell them I am pregnant with a guy that do not even know is in my life right now baby. WOW This sounds so messed up as I write it, you all must think I am nuts.

The last thing you need right now is stress. Everything will work out. Just be open and honest with your parents and then take it from there.

I live with my parents right now I am there last "little" girl left all my other sisters had the big weddings and then got pregnant and one is due in a few months so to see them SO happy and so excited for her and I k now they are going to be SO disappointed in me breaks my heart.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

Even though this probably seems like the hardest thing...you are going to do the hardest part right now. At first they may be disappointed but they WILL forgive you and love their grandchild no matter how it was conceived. You had a good idea with having a plan together, maybe its best to live with your parents for now so you guys can save up some money for an apt or house. Start looking into insurance, maybe a part time job with insurance. Investigate state and federal programs to help single moms financially and emotionally or with housing. You are now officially an adult! Good luck to you

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

I was 18 when i got pregnant, and i didnt tell my family until i was 61/2 months pregnant. I lived at home, and i wasnt married. My BF (now my husband) and I stayed together. I was suprised at how accepting my parents were of the situation. It took my dad a little bit longer to be ok with it, but in the end- they were a big help. You have to stay focused. Work, go to school, and save money. I would agree with you that you are going to have to come up with a plan. I am always online, if you tell me where you are looking for an apt. i can tell you if i see any.
I understand how you feel, stay stong, and get rest :)Chat Icon

Do you have to tell them your pregnant. Why don't you say you and your BF are looking for a place and one day you may want to start a family. I don't think its right from them to turn you down because of a baby.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

well that is the reason we are not allowed to live in his current apartment. So it is going to be hard. We need an apartment bldg. I would think but those are usually way too much money.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

I would not even say you are pregnant. Then when you start to show just say I am having a baby. If you get a 1 BD that will probably only work for about 3-6 months eventually you will want the baby to have his/her own room. get the most inexpensive place you can find and try to save whatever you can and live there for a year.

Re: So Sad..we have no place to live.

OK first of all, someone telling you flat out you cannot live here because you will have a baby is a VIOLATION OF FAIR HOUSING!! I work in property mgmt, the violation is family status. Unless these place specifically say no children and they enforce that on a consistent basis with everyone. By the way, even people who rent their houses out are bound by landlord-tenant law.

Oh also, at least in CT, if you rent a 1 bedroom with an infant, the infant is not counted in occupancy guidelines until they are 18 months old.

I'm sorry I am just so mad for you right now!!Chat Icon
