So sick of DD fighting sleep....

Almost every time she goes down (either for a nap or for bedtime) she cries. She cries for at least 15 minutes most of the time and then passes out. Sometimes (for naps) she cries for awhile and I can tell she doesn't want to sleep...I'll go and get her and bring her downstairs and give her a bottle (I have a bottle holder) and put her in her papasan seat and she'll pass out for 30 min or so. She just FIGHTS sleeping all the time...I'm so sick of it...I've tried everything. I just wish she would go to sleep willingly. Any tips??

Re: So sick of DD fighting sleep....

The only thing I can suggest is nearing nap time when you FIRST see a sign of tiredness... be it an eye rub, a yawn, or a slight burst of energy - babbling, whining, etc. pick her up and start to wind her down... begin the nap process then.

When I was in the midst of a sleep meltdown ... my sister said to me, "you can't MAKE a baby go to sleep"

I have gotten to the point of not fighting...if he doesnt want to sleep at night then I throw some toys in his crib and eventually he will pass out...

My son only just stopped crying before bed/nap time and he is almost 2. I think some kids just cry for a few minutes. In the end, I learned to let him do it. Just to go with the flow. As long as she sleeps, let her get there anyway she has to!

Re: So sick of DD fighting sleep....

I could have written this post - Jack hates naps and will fight them to no end. Today he slept all of 40 minutes the entire day. I'm shot. He's shot.

Thankfully at night he goes down with no problem (well, most of the time anyway Chat Icon )

ETA: I just tried this for the first time and it actually worked. I put on the Lite Music station on the TV and sang him to sleep. He beat me up for about the first three songs and then I think he was starting to get tired of my singing and thought it's just easier to fall asleep. He has been down for a whoppin' 10 minutes right now!

While not exactly the same as you, we are having our own sleep issues over here. It's freakin exhausting and frustrating (DD is waking up NUMEROUS times during the night and needs the pacifer or to be rocked -- NOT FUN!).
