So the roof is leaking in my guest room closet....
no bad...but they can't fix it until tuesday
and lots of my stuff got wet...do you think I can get my landlord to pay for the cleaning bill?
I have renters insurace...would I file a claim thru that?
all the years I have been renting and I am clueless!
and of course I am having 25 people over today....which is actually the only reason why I noticed it- I was hanging my boyfreinds clothes up at 9am on a sunday

aww, I am so sorry !! if the landlord will not cover the damages, then you have to call your ins. co. then they should send out and agent.

Use the insurance but have the LL cover the deductible.

Depending on the cost of the cleaning (and any other loss) it may not be worth claiming on the insurance and risking any increases. Unfortunately, if you make small claims against your insurance it can work against you in the long run. Suggest to your landlords that you'd like to deduct the damages from the rent next month, or if it's a lot, spread it out over a couple of months.

Re: So the roof is leaking in my guest room closet....
the only damages are clothes that need to be dry cleaned- should be less then $100
I am going to call the landlord tomorow and tell them- maybe I can just get a receipt and deduct it off my rent...it doesn't seem insurace clain worthy
