So upset. **UPDATE- THE NURSE CALLED**
**UPDATE**
So the nurse called and they have doubled my dosage (to 50iu) a day for 5 days. I go back Monday morning for another check.
Just got back from the RE being monitored. This is CD8 after 5 days of 25iu of Follistim.
On the right ovary there was an 8.5mm follie and on the left- a 7.5.
I cannot believe I am not responding to this stupid stuff at all. I don't know why I let myself get excited and think positive- because it bites me in the *** everytime. I walk out of there feeling defeated. The nurse said they are going slow so I don't overstimulate- being I have PCOS, and told me to be patient. I felt like punching her. What does she think I HAVE been doing???
I don't know. Maybe I am overreacting. I know there's still time and they can up the dose, but I just feel like this cycle is- yet again- a bust.

Re: So upset.
I am right there with you yesterday was CD12 and my follies only grew about 1mm since last Friday. He upped my dosages of clomid to 150 and I started taking it last night, that is 3 rounds of clomid in 1 cycle and my hormones are a mess. I was so disappointed in myself yesterday and am feeling quite depressed today.
He said if I don't respond to the clomid he will induce another Provera AF (ugh) and next month I will move onto injectibles.
Everything was going along so smoothly and I feel like I have hit a giant brick wall and I just completely lost it and couldn't stop crying yesterday.

I haven't taken follistim before but isn't that a very low dose?

Yes, it is. They were afraid I would get OHSS because I am young and have PCOS. The nurse was actually shaking her head- as if she couldn't believe my follies are the exact same as they were last cycle-which never grew. She said she cant guarantee the eggs will grow. I know that there are higher doses- i'm just frustrated.

Re: So upset.
I had 3 rounds of IVF until the RE got the meds right. One cycle, I had lots of follies, but no eggs in them.....2nd cycle, I had only 3 follies grow.....finally, the 3rd cycle, I had about 10 follies and now I'm 12 weeks PG. It's so frustrating when your body doesn't seem to cooperate with the meds, and you get so depressed (been there!).....I truly hope your follies kick it up in the next few days!!!!!!!!

Question- how do you know if the follicle doesn't contain an egg?

Mine was a freak thing (RE said he never heard of it happening, lucky me, right?) and they didn't know until the ER, when they only found fluid in my follies.....don't worry about that happening to you, like I said, it is EXTREMELY rare.....

Re: So upset. **UPDATE- THE NURSE CALLED**
Wow they started you on a real low dose. I wouldn't be too discouraged. They are being smart by starting you off slowly. Hopefully the increase will get those follies growing

I agree. It's better to go slow then to over stim. I know it's hard to be paitent and not feel frustrated though!

Re: So upset. **UPDATE- THE NURSE CALLED**
As someone who has suffered from severe OHSS...be glad they are going slow. The problem with PCOS'ers is that there is nothing, nothing, nothing and then all of a sudden the follicles will take off. Next thing, you are hyperstimming. Two slow growning follicles is not a bad thing. They can up your dosage, but you don't even want to know what OHSS really feels like. Go with your RE....

I understand exactly why they are doing it, and like I said above I AM glad they are being smart about it. I would rather it this way, I was just hoping there would be SOME progress. I had 2 follicles last cycle that were slow growing, too, and never went above 8.5mm. You are absolutely right- I DEFINATELY don't want to know what it feels like. I feel for you that you had to endure it. They did explain that with PCOS it's more difficult to-I guess-be careful? Something like that- and that was why they are starting me off small. I am trying to be patient, but if this cycle gets cancelled- i'll just lose it.
