So upset...DH has to work Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day
Uggghhh...the life of a cop! The stupid thing is he doesnt work in a precinct. He is a narcotics detective...NO reason for him to have to go in. He thought he had the time but between Derek being born and him taking a few days when Derek was in the hospital and than his mother was in the hospital with sepsis, he has none left. At his old precinct they would let him "go into the red" and let him make up the time later...not here

I know exactly how you feel. DH is a cop also and has to work both eve and day. The worst part is he works midnights so when DD and I wake up Christmas morning, he won't even be there , he won't get home till about 9:30 and then he has to go to sleep .

I know exactly how you feel. DH is a cop also and has to work both eve and day. The worst part is he works midnights so when DD and I wake up Christmas morning, he won't even be there , he won't get home till about 9:30 and then he has to go to sleep .
They gave DH two options: 6-2pm or 3-11pm. He is going to do the 6-2's because we spend Christmas Eve night with his family and have Christmas dinner at our house with my family. we will just wait to open presents until he gets home.

I'm right there with you. My DH got forced into overtime for all of his days off this week (Wed-Fri). I'm sick over it.

Fellow Cop wife here wanted to give you a hug.  DH is working tomorrow (Xmas Eve), and we have to wait until 7pm tomorrow night (Christmas Eve) to find out if he has to work Christmas.  It stinks b/c it is out of our control. This is our first Christmas married, I am 15 weeks pregnant, and our first Christmas in DC. We don't even have any family here.  I coule stay with until DH gets home. I so feel for you sweetie.

I know the feeling. I think at the same time I got used to the possibility of not having my DH around the holidays.
So hard.
BTW, DH did narcotics and sometimes I wouldnt even sleep next to him for 3 days.
For you DH, I hope he puts his dues in and gets to a different unit soon. It def takes a toll on you.

 the joys of being a cops wife. The best part on my end is my mother...she seems to forget hes a cop and they can end up working on the holidays. Her suggestion this year was for me to go upstate to her on Christmas day since he would be working  , I was like ***...This is our first Christmas with our DD, there was no way in hell I wasn't spending it with "our" new family.

I feel your pain. My hubby goes back to work overnight tomorrow from 7pm-7am on Christmas day, then he'll spend most of the day sleeping on Christmas, so we won't see him, but this time last year, he had just been laid off, so I am just happy that he has a job this year! Hang in there and know you are not alone!

I feel your pain as well. DH works overnights as well and won't be getting home until 10:30am. Then he'll sleep all day and wakeup when my IL's come for dinner that night. It really s u x for birthdays and holidays

Same here and now we are going through it with my brother. We are all extremely close and we spend all Christmas day together. Thank GOD he is off christmas eve and Christmas Day this year...but we know that we wont be that lucky every year. Hugs to all of you...I know how hard it is. God Bless all of our cops!
