DS will hit me sometimes or hit DD. If he hits us I tell him that it is not nice and please stop hitting me/DD. Well yesterday we were leaving the mall and DS wanted to stay. He was annoyed and I was holding his hand and he yelled in the parking lot "Mama, stop hitting me and don't touch me!" Luckily no one was around but what if someone was, I wouldn't want them to think I am hitting him, KWIM. What do I do about this?

i would just say "i'm not hitting you, and you need to hold my hand when we are in the parking lot/crossing the street/etc. to be safe"
i personally could give f-all to what anyone thinks, you know what you are doing and that's all that matters...
at 35 weeks pregnant i've had my 2 year old through "dead weight" fits in the middle of the parking lot - i pick her up, tell her who's boss, and move on...

kids are so weird! My 3yo DD started yelling in the parking lot the other day "mommy you giving me an arm boo boo" i was holding her upper arm since she wouldnt hold my hand in the parking lot. I was totally not hurting her in any way. I just said i am not hurting you lets go....
