So we decided to stay and extend!

After much debating, looking at MLSI, driving around, it appears that the type of houses I would be willing to move in in the area I want is about $50K more than we can afford.

We debated on doing an extension on our house to add a dining room area (we have a levitt house so no dining room) or get buy another house with a dining room. The extension would cost us $30K (and add a much needed wall in closet).

So we looked around and it turns out moving to another levitt with an extention already done is more $$ than us doing the extension.

So I decided if I would be only willng to move to a house with a basement. But it turns out that it would cost us $50K more than doing the extension. Nice house layout but smaller yard and lots of reno to do on top of that.

So I guess we will stick to the extension to our house.

If your extension is big enough, you may want to see what it would cost to put a basement below the addition. It might be a good size for storage.

We decided the same thing before we extended our house. It just wasn't worth it to move. It was much more economical to stay put, and add on.
