So we decided tonight...
to have Thanksgiving at our house this year
We just moved in in January and we decided to avoid all the family drama (well, SIL drama) and do it here. Whoever wants to come, can come.
Now we'll have to cook
And I can't get out of it in any way...
I think I am excited. But me Martha Stewart's Dr Evil, how the hell do you do you plan for that? Decor, cooking?

I avoid hosting any major holidays at my house. I can't handle the stress!
I guess you would start by figuring out the the heck to cook a turkey...if you already know how you have the most important part figured out!

Make lists!! Decide what sides you want to make......hell..........at least the turkey is a given, so that's one less decision!!

It's really not that hard.
We bought our house in May of 06 and held Thanksgiving for 25 people six months later for Thanksgiving.
Decorate the way you normally would for the season and cook the meal.

We host Thanksgiving every year. Be really organized. I make a timeline of when everything needs to be put on and taken off. It's hectic, but really rewarding when everyone is sitting and enjoying the dishes you made.

ooooh, I may just do that
I am not worried about having a lot of people. we had our fam over a week after we moved in (15 people) and a Superbowl party a few weeks later (25+ people)
But it's Thanksgiving!!! Makes me nervous. I have a tendency to go ALL out...

you make the bird and have everyone else bring their specialty.
do appys that are easy and fun and put DH in charge of the bar.
Set the table with what you like and drink.
Now, there's coping for you!
