we had a company come out for a quote to have our siding and roof done, no windows. We have a colonial but we don't have HUGE house by any means...

They want $44,000!!!!!!!! DH almost laughed at the guy when he told him.

He had a breakdown of the costs and the markup and labor was out of control! DH has been pricing out materials himself at HD, and lumbar type places, and materials would cost us about $15,000 for both, at most $20,000.

I mean, is that the going rate for a company? I am still at that price!!

WOW! That does seem a bit high... My parents had their siding and roof done about 2 years ago and I'm positive they did not pay that much.. My in-laws also had theirs done and I think they paid 15K with windows

That is completely outrageous. I'd get a bunch more quotes if I were you. We used Responsible Remodeling and were very happy with the work (held up great in the storm!) and their price was good.

We have a ranch and I forget the sq footage but we got TONS of estimate and the going rate for siding was $10-12K, roof we were lucky the owners just replaced and the only reason why we went into contract on the house.

we know realistically the siding will cost about $15K because we will need to replace fascia/boards on the house.

Not sure how big your house is but that seems outrageous. I would imagine $8-10k for the roof and around the same for siding.

what type of siding are you using - we are doing cement siding and that is insane compared to our quote and cement sidign is one of the more expensive products

get other quotes. We have a Hi-Ranch and were quoted just for siding $15 or $16K. We had our roof done 3 years ago and it about $8K. So that is only $24K. Def. get other quotes. GL!

We are having our roof done this week - premium architectural shingles - it's going to be under 6k. The wood doesn't need replacing though. Def. get another estimate!

To give you an idea, we had our roof done 10 yrs ago and that cost us 8K (40 yr architectural shingles).

We redid our exterior in the 2007 and the siding/labor cost us 30K, but it was cedar shingles & Azek trim.

A few years back I used 2 different companies for my roof and siding

I have a raised ranch(like a high ranch)

siding was $7500 including, siding, soffits, trim and shutters

roof was $4500 complete tear off, new plywood and an arcitectural roof(30 yr)

That number sounds CRAZY to me

You def need another quote. I had my roof redone 2 years ago and for 30 Year architectural shingles it was $3200. I have a cape.

omg thank god everyone is saying that is high, we are doing that this year and we were budgeting much less for it!
