So, we had a big milestone today...
We went out on two separate shopping trips without any diapers! Just big girl undies, and NO accidents! I am still not ready to put her on a public toilet seat, though because the thought grosses me out, so I put the potty in the trunk of my SUV and let her use it in there Probably gross on so many more different levels than a public bathroom, but whatever

I see people with potties in the back of their SUV/Minivan all the time 
I've seen those little folding ones that go over the toilet seat too. Although that would kind of skeeve me to put it back in my bag after it's been on a public seat

Awesome Job AVA!!! Although once you start going in public toilets, she'll want to TRY out every freakin toilet she can find.
I swear every time we walk into a new store/restaurant, Em wants to go to the bathroom. And if it's a good, entertaining bathroom (like a pretty one, with nice tile) she'll make me go back 4-5 times in one stay at the place. It's annoying.  
Anyway, you can get from onestepahead.com or BRU these big toilet seat liners. They are HUGE and cover way over the seat, so that even where her legs would hang down is covered. They have little adhesive strips to stick them down too so they don't move.
Then put the travel potty seat over that.....and she'll even have handles to hold on to...
It's as close as we can get to being germ-protected in public toilets.
We also use the travel potty in the trunk. I LOVE my travel potty!!!

ETA: Rachel, I agree about public bathrooms, gross!! and my boys have to touch EVERYTHING, so im always saying, dont touch anything, lets go, dont touch anything, wash your hands. 
once they potty trained, I almost thought it was easier when they werent. 
andmy almost 6yr old thinks he should be going to the MENS room, um, no sorry buddy. not alone until your 35

Way to go Ava!!
I remember Pt'ing my DS - he wanted to use every bathroom he saw. At least it was a little easier because he could stand and pee... Now that I am training Lauren, I am dreading the day I need to put her on a public toilet (although I do have super large seat covers and a portable seat from One Step Ahead).

We bought one of those folding potty seats to use in public if I know we're going to be out for a while. Putting her on public toilets skeeves me out too, but at least I know she's sitting directly on our seat instead of the dirty one.

That is awesome!!!!!! I am def not even attempting this until he is closer to 3 and the new baby is here. If he asks to go on the potty ok but other then that, no way.
