So we went to the allergist last night
and had the skin prick test done. So out of oat, wheat, egg, milk, soy, dog, cat and cow she is actually only allergic to dog, milk and egg. He was really nice and he was surprised by how much I knew . I asked him about the flue and MMR shots (made with eggs), we talked about Neocate, he showed me the The Food Allergy Network allergy diet ellimination sheet. So thank you to all the mommies that helped out with all that info. !

That's great news! Well, it still stinks that she has those allergies, but at least it's not as bad as you thought.

Re: So we went to the allergist last night
Hey, I'm just wondering what the background is for this because I want to get DS tested for allergies. How old is your DD? What made you think she was allergic...spitting up? hives???? Do you have a dog?

Are you going to have the IMMUNCAP bloodwork done? To check the severity of the allergies he does have?
So glad it's just a few and that you got some info.
Another good resource is PAK - It's local moms - they have a meeting once a month to talk about different issues.

She always had dry skin, since she was about 3 weeks old. It got worse and then turned into eczema. I knew eczema was a form of allergic reaction and we have a dog. So after 5 months of seeing DD scratch and her developing a rash that I couldn't rid of permaternaly (it would get better then come back) the Dr. ordered blood tests. From their we went to the allergist. DD will be 6 months old tomorrow. The allergist said that he had a patient eariler in the day that was 5 months. Kids to tend to grow out of these allergies but I didn't want to put her on formula and I wanted to know exactly what to cut out of my diet.

Poor baby..hopefully she will grow out of them!
Do you have the name of the allergist? My son has had some issues (projectile vomitting, and now hives). I am nervous that it is an allergy. He is on Nutramigen now, but I just want to make sure its not a milk allergy.
Also, was the test bad? Is it painful for them?

I work for an allergist. He is amazing with kids. His name is Dr. Guida. He is in West Bay Shore. You will be very happy. The # is 631-665-2700. Good luck.

I live in NJ so I am not sure I am any help . The blood test and prick test was easy but the blood was difficult to get from her because A.) she is a slim baby b.) she had a flare up were they needed to draw blood so you weren't able to see or feel the veins to well. They tried once in the peds. office and the nurse wasn't able to get the vein. At Quest he spent some time looking for a vein and then just went in and found one right away. Once the needle was in she stopped crying. The skin prick test she didn't feel anything, but you can't touch their backs for 15 minutes so that was the hardest. Good Luck and I hope he feels better.
