So weird today...reunited with babysitting family for playdate as friends.
So last friday was my last day babysitting. I had G since he was 7 mos old..he turned 2 in February. His mom is a teacher, having her 2nd baby this month...so we decided its best if she found a new sitter for her 2 for sept...for the first time leaving us simply as friends.
It took her a very long time to get over my relationship between me and G. She was happy he was so happy, but it made her sad that he never once cried for her in the AM, and fought leaving. Talked about me and josh a million times a day over the weekends.
They live 2 minutes away from me, so we want to keep the boys as friends(they are 5 weeks apart).
We have COMPLETELY different parenting styles. I am so much more strict. I did not allow him to have tantrums or cry over nonsense.
Yesterday she called me to make plans for a playdate. We go this AM. He's a different kid, crying, tantrums. Whatever, that's her issue now.
But, he would not let her push him on the swings or help him at all. He would hit her and say no, mommy do it while pointing to me. Terrible situation.
I ignored him at first and he kept doing it. Then I told him, G its not nice, if someone wants to help you or push you, let them, esp your mommy.
he continued to do it.
what do I do? go over there? will he eventually stop since I am not watching him anymore? tia!

Wow....AWKWARD! No, but seriously, he'll get used to it and it will go back to normal. I'll tell ya, though, I really believe kids crave discipline, but that's a discussion for a whole other thread.

That's a tuff one! I think you have to take a little break from them so the mom can figure out how to discipline him & form a better bond with him! He will really miss you for a good while, but eventually settle down!

Holy awkward!
Well, I'm glad she called again to do something, how do YOU feel about it?

I feel like I only have a handful of people down here...its a lonely life. So I am in no situation to turn down any playdate.
I felt so bad for her yesterday, but a huge part of me later in the day was just glad this kid liked me. It was really hard to tell with him. did I hug him enough? was I as fair to him as I was my own?
