Jesss, duh.

So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

I am honestly clueless one way or the other.

But, my mom has a pic of her father (my grandfather) on her entertainment center.

Ever since Ryan could reach he will pick up the picture, examine it (sometimes point and giggle), and then put it back on the entertainment center but face down.

He ignores every other picture - in anyone's house!

My mom thinks maybe Ryan "sees" my grandfather in the house or something along those lines.

They say children are very likely to see spirits and thing of that nature.

What is your take on it?

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

I truly believe that DS has been 'talking' with my FIL since he passed away when DS was 6 months old. Now that he is 2 1/2 and can talk, he tells me some interesting things about who is in the house.

Oddly enough, he started talking about 'Grandma J' recently. This is what we called MY grandmother and I don't think I've ever talked about her with DS. He has never seen pics of her, but he tells me all about Grandma J now. She died in 1998.

I believe it. I think that Jaidy used to see my MIL when she was younger.

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

i absolutely 100% think that children see "spirits" i did as a child. they had first and last names. i would hear things also. (creapy and would creap me out as well) but it just so happens that my dd is 7 month olds vocab consists of the word "cat" since we had a family cat. he actually passed away this morning and when we walked into the room that he passed she said "cat!" and got all excited like she did when she would see him and play with him. so im convinced that she sees him! i think its so comfoting and i def embrace it!

I totally believe. Christopher used to laugh at my grandfather's picture from a VERY young age (like 2-3 months old)

He also, at about a year old or so, pointed to a picture of my grandmother and called her "Maw" (which was what we called her, but I didn't say it around him nad he wasn't at the repeating everything phase)Chat Icon Chat Icon

I believe they do. This past Nov our Cub Scout den visited Old Bethpage Village. We walked into one house and DS and his friend both immediately asked if the house had ghosts. They werent scared but didnt want to stay in the house very long. DH stayed and spoke to the guide who told him that some of the staff had "strange experiences" in the house and that children often had the same question DS and his friend had.

i 100% don't believe at all that children see spirits. i think their take on the world is very different, and looking at a particular picture catches his eye for a reason known only to him. eventually he outgrows it and sees the world the way an adult does

C - I always love your responses. Chat Icon You crack me up!

Me, I'm not sure yet. I never really believed in all that. I do believe that our family members who have passed are watching over us. Haven't seen Mason act weird or anything. DH's grandmother passed away last month and there was no change. Although I was talking to his cousin and she said that morning that the kids nightlights were all flashing the morning of the funeral. I just think it's a coincidence

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

I believe it. When DD was younger and I would have her on the changing table in her room, she would always look up at the ceiling like someone was there and start smiling. I've had some strange things happen in the house. Another weird thing that happened was when I was pregnant, I was in my friends wedding. There was a picture taken of me walking down the aisle and there was this white orb right next to my belly.

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

Lily was 5 months old when my grandfather died.
I have a picture of him up on my refrigerator, and one day, she pointed at it and said something....I asked her to repeat it, and she said "grandpa". At that point, she was calling my father, her grandpa, "Pa". So it was the first time she'd ever said "grandpa" and there is no way she could have known who he was.

My husband's best friend Rob's father died a number of years ago. He worked on the LIRR, and at his funeral, as the ceremony was coming to a close, we all got a chill as a train went by in the distance and honked it's horn. No other trains were heard during the ceremony except for at that moment. The day before the anniversary of his death, Rob was at our house, and he mentioned that the next day was the anniversary....so it was on our minds.
The next day, Lily was drawing with my husband and she kept asking him to draw "the man", but he had no idea what she was talking about. He dismissed it. That night, as I was putting her into her crib, she looked at me and said "choo choo". She's not really into trains, so there was no reason for her to say that!

I totally believe she sees things. I totally believe there are people looking after her and watching our lives. And I totally find it comforting.

Could I be wrong? Could these all be coincidences? Of course! But it's comforting for me to believe that my grandfather, who never had the chance to know Lily, is now able to watch her grow up. So I believe!

I totally believe that children are in touch with the other side. Recently, the twins have been talking to a lot to ghosts!

I just ask them what they look like and where they are. I never make a big deal of it! I actually think it is pretty cool!

I think they do. My dd's sometimes have this look in their eyes and I have to turn around to make sure no one is behind me. It freaks me out!

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

Lord do I. I hear it 24-7 al day long since they could tell me, I had dreams in middle school of things that would happen and they did.
My twins both see things-I started again when my mom passed, I mean weird things...u can fm me if u want..and my daughter does at 14 all day long every day.
They all talk all talk about seeing a man,
my dd friend saw him too-(we even got a pic of a man)
Someone researched my house and a man died here.
I dk if my kids will lose it or not.
I find comfort in it. I see some beautiful things!
Then again we have seen creey things but I have never been spooked-its to common in this house.
One cose relative also in her late 20's sees al day long...
too bad no one picked up a talent like opera, or guitar or something! lol
I think its comforting there is something and u just do not go and thats that.
If u are interested I can also show you pics through fm that were analyzed my a man in Ireland that does this stuff for a living and they are extraordinary!

Re: So what do you think about Children and "spirits"?

DD's grandfathers died waaaay before she was born (1987 & 1996), and the only conversation we've had about them around her is that she is named for both of their mothers. She talks to "John" on her toy cellphone all the time. That is DH's father.
