So who won for the democratic party?
I don't understand, do we know the results yet? Did Hillary or Obama win? I am not very political, can someone explain to me what is going on?

Re: So who won for the democratic party?
Last time I checked, it was too close. Hillary was ahead by only 30,000 votes.. it's going to be a tight one!
Anyone have any news?

http://news.aol.com/elections/primary/delegates/democrats
This site is pretty good, showing the status of the race.
state by state
Looks like a close race...keeping fingers crossed!

Re: So who won for the democratic party?
It's really too close to call. While Hillary does have more delegate votes a lot of those are superdelegates...which basically means that they can change their minds when it comes time to vote at the National Convention.

Can you explain the whole delegate thing to me? That is where I get confused. And when we will know for sure who won?

Re: So who won for the democratic party?
I got choked up last night while watching her speech on TV. she said that when her mother was born, women were not allowed to vote, and now her mom was watching her speak as she runs for President. That was really something.

We wont know for sure until the National Democratic Convention in August..
I'll try and find something online that explains the whole delegate thing...I couldnt even begin to try and explain it.

Re: So who won for the democratic party?
In a sense YES...In another sense NO...OBAMA has more pledged votes than Clinton...those votes stick and cannot be changed when it comes time to vote at the National Convention...CLinton has more Superdelegate votes than Obama..those votes can change when it comes time to vote at the National Convention....There is still a TON at stake. Unless some major upset occurs we arent going to know who our democratic presidential candidate is until August.

that was pretty intense. Can you believe that we weren't able to vote? It seems barbaric almost.

That is why I wish more women would have voted for Hillary, but to each is own I guess.

While I understand the sentiment of being proud to be a woman, I won't vote for Clinton just because she is a woman any more than I would vote against a candidate because of his race or religion. (Black, Hispanic, Muslim, Jewish)

I didn't say that you said that. You said that you wish more women would have voted for Hillary. I said, as a woman, I won't vote for Hillary just BECAUSE she is a woman. I expect each candidate to prove themselves regardless of race, gender or religion.

EXACTLY what I was going to say, SuperKat. I absolutely refuse to compromise my stance on the issues and my beliefs just b/c a woman is running. It's about women being treated equally, not getting special status for being female. I will treat Hillary as I would any other candidate of any gender or race, by voting on the issues.

ah, I knew I didn't write that! LOL and no, I will not vote for Hillary because she is a woman. I was just so taken back at her speech last night and it made me realize how women have come such a long way.
