so yeah, Circuit City is going out of business and their sale prices
are STILL more $$ than some of the competitors.
we bought a tv on Saturday, and the SALE price was higher than the price at J&R (we matched the J&R price b/c we bought the store model)
I wrote down some model numbers of cameras that I liked...they are STILL more expensive.
dh said no wonder they are going out of business...but it makes NO sense to me.
if they are LIQUIDATING, shouldn't they be priced AT LEAST slightly less than their competetition???
anywho, they are offering 10% on all tv/electronics/cameras and 20-30% on everything else if you want to check it out.

Re: so yeah, Circuit City is going out of business and their sale prices
I overhead a Circuit City employee telling someone that they jacked up their prices to the MSRP price and are deducting the % off of those prices. The employee was on line at a Starbucks next to a CC store.
She told the other person that the real sale starts in February.

Re: so yeah, Circuit City is going out of business and their sale prices
Are they working with a liquidation company?
Same thing happened at Linens 'n Things when they 'liquidated' their stores.
The liquidation company starts out at the original MSRP and then discounts from there, not taking into account what the item was actually selling for when the store was opened.
People buy it anyway. They see clearance and assume they are getting a good price. It's important to know your prices.
It's so annoying.

Re: so yeah, Circuit City is going out of business and their sale prices
We went there over the weekend hoping to score a good deal on a surround sound system, only to find that some of their "name brand" products (including the one we were in the market for) weren't on sale at all - but they were still held to the "liquidation, all sales are final" fine print. Why would I buy it there for just as much, if not more, as I would spend somewhere else, AND not be able to return it should something be wrong with it? Very disappointing. Their advertising was a little misleading there.

Re: so yeah, Circuit City is going out of business and their sale prices
The news did a story on this on how just b/c they are going out of biz doesn't mean they are cheaper..they jack up the prices to make more money. They did a story on this when Linens and things was Liquidating
