So you guys blew me off

When I asked for help with my dad's 75th b-day.

So-here's your second chance.

I need ideas ladies and gents. Here's some more info to help.

He is an active 75 year old that works 2 part time jobs. My folks live in AZ.

He loves music and plays the piano and I already got him a keyboard last year.

He also likes gadgets and he was hinting about a GPS device (portable) since he gets lost sometimes when driving..he always gets lost even when I was little.

eta: This is a big b-day so I want it to be big within reason.

GPS - Garmin 350 or 360. They're fantastic and mid range in price.

Are they portable and good? Is the technology good enough? I'm concerned it will be just ok.

He really gets lost..Chat Icon

And they are coming in for my surgery in February and they are not familiar with where I live. Dad is concerned he will get lost on LI! Where he lived for 40 years!

He's not senile though...just always gets lostChat Icon Chat Icon

He already has a fabulous piano..

I am beyond directionally challenged and spent all weekend in GA using the 360 and never had a problem. Trust me, if it worked for me, it will work for anyone! i think the main difference between the 350 and 360 is that the 360 has a bigger screen, so that one might be better. It mounts to the windshield and is portable.

I agree with the GPS. I think it's a great gift and since he has hinted that he wanted it, he'll love it! Chat Icon

FIL has the Garmin - he got it for Christmas & he loves it & it is easy to use.

Another fun thing that I got for a cousin who is a music lover is a studio session for her to record some of her music.

Re: So you guys blew me off

If you get a GPS, make sure you read alot of reviews. I have the Garmin Street Pilot i3 and I have to return it. It has all the right maps in it, but the directions it gives me are HORRIBLE. I mean I live upstate and I drive to work on Tuesdays in NYC. There's a very direct route into NYC for me, yet the system told me to take I-95 to 495 (???) to Dyre Ave - wherever that is...it was the worst set of directions I ever got. And driving upstate from LI, it kept telling us to get off the Cross Island Parkway. Um, how else should we get to the brigdes?? Weird.

Someone told me about their system, started with a P but I forget the name (Precision maybe??) he swears by it. And he's a limo driver.

Good luck!!

Get him that really nice GPS that's flat. Can't remember the name, but they have it at Circuit City.
