Social Programs for the 2 yr old group.
Whats best?
I dont want a flat out preschool seperation just yet but I can tell we need something.
We tried storytime at the library today and it was a disaster...my normally well behaved child just wouldnt sit still....it was the group ( it was much too slow for him) but at the same time I need him to start to understand , sitting, listening, following directions.
He WILL do this much better if he see's a peer doing it I noticed.
Any Preschool's have mommy and Me for 2 yr olds?
Would a class like Gymboree still be helpful In anyones opinions since there is "semi" structure?
Thanks!!!

How about something like this Donna?
http://www.kidesteem.com/earlychildhood
Our early childhood and early intervention programs give children ages 2 –5 the enrichment and support they need for healthy social, emotional and intellectual development. Some groups include parenting seminars, where parents learn how to change undesirable behavior, set loving limits and successfully guide their children toward meeting the challenges of this important time. Special needs classes are available for high functioning children diagnosed with Autism, Asperger’s, PDD-NOS and related pragmatic social and language delays.
Early Connections / We’re A Family: Ages 2 - 5 and Parent Story making, puppet play, creative arts and expressive language activities teach the skills of social and emotional growth. Parents participate in weekly seminars on how to develop healthy social and emotional behaviors at home. Fee for 10 week play and parenting class: Fall / Spring - $255
Ages 2 – 3: Tuesdays 11:15 – 12:15

Re: Social Programs for the 2 yr old group.
We go to My Gym. It's great. There is structure during circle time and story time. Then they have their independent play time. There is also a separation time when they play with the other kids and the parents back off. The class she is in now does a lot of preschool type things like singing and following directions. We have taken Bella there since she was 8 months old. She has learned so much both socially and physically.
I know you are still in the area so if you want more info let me know.

We go to Kidnastics in Babylon. They have awesome mommy & me classes. Half of the class is free play, and half is structured with fine motor tasks, songs, and other activities.

Why is everything so darn expensive? Although this sounds like something I would be looking for.
I may ask EI too for a reccomendation as I think he qualifies for a program now too, we were just gonna wait a bit till he was more accustomed to speech therapy.
Lisa- I wanted to join My Gym this last semester and didnt. Maybe I will. Gonna look them up now. I heard they were resonably priced and everyone seems to like them. THANKS!

Re: Social Programs for the 2 yr old group.
Gymboree does partial separation classes.
However, I do think that by Sept, Noah will be perfect for a preschool setting. Some away time from mom will be good for him. Does your school district offer preschools where he could still get EI services?
