Social Security # question
I need to add DD to my insurance within 2 weeks. How do I go about obtaining her SS#? Will it be on her birth certificate or do I have to do a separate application for it?

Re: Social Security # question
They will mail it to you - I believe that you fill out paperwork in the hospital.
I think that we needed to add DD within 24 hours - you can call and inform the insurance of the birth and then update them with the SSN when you get it.

That's what we did. We had 30 days to add DS officially to our insurance. I only got his SS# in the mail when he was 3 weeks.
There is no way they will require the number for you to add DC to your insurance. Some people received their SS# way after 3 weeks.

Re: Social Security # question
We got ours when DS was about 5 weeks old. They told us to just send a copy and a copy of the birth certificate when we got them.

Re: Social Security # question
The soc sec # will be sent to you separate from the birth certificate. If I remember correctly it came within 3wks. And with your insurance, most ins. Company's keep the baby under your ID number for the 1st 2mos. Check w/ your insurance company I'm sure you will have your dc ss# by the time your ins. comp. needs it.
