Social Worker openings on Long Island?
I'm probably going to be looking in the Spring. (We are in contract on our new house and I don't want to screw up the mortgage stuff by leaving my job right now).
Just wondering if anyone knows of any good companies. I do have some leads but just wondering what else is out there, since I have worked my whole professional career in the city.
Thanks :D

Like pp said-- the office of mental health for the state has alot of openings. I don't think you will have a problem finding a job. I was looking myself. But I never finished my masters so nobody wants me. As long as you have your masters you will have no problem. Good Luck.

Re: Social Worker openings on Long Island?
Thanks for the tips ladies. I am an MSW and have been working with people with TBI for several years now. I know of a couple agencies based on Long Island that are hiring so I may try that route first if I do decide to leave my current employer. I like doing this job because it's case management and a big perk is that you can work from home sometimes! Can't find that with a lot of other social work positions ;). Just keeping my options open though.

Re: Social Worker openings on Long Island?
I know this is an older thread, and I've since found another job (started in Jan. 08), however, I am bumping this back up to see if anyone has any leads. I think I want to go back to working in non-profits if anyone has any ideas. I also would consider taking a pay-cut. I just don't know how long I want to deal with the burearcracy of being a supervisor, as I feel like I work a gazillion hours during the week, and I have responsibility for everything. I want something that is basically only 40 hours again. And closer to home! (I live in Amity Harbor but have to drive to Lynbrook and go into the city right now). I would still consider being a supervisor, depending on the types of responsibilities, as well as level of support from the agency.
TIA!!
ETA: I haven't made myself take the LMSW exam yet, because I haven't needed it (don't really do clinical work/therapy) so that may make a difference in the types of jobs I can apply for.

Bumping this back up again if anyone has any more ideas as well. I need as many as possible, for a STABLE company that is not going to suck every hour of every day out of me (see my "Help!" post).

Re: Social Worker openings on Long Island?
I will send them a resume. I've only worked with kids for 1 year though and that was way back in 98-99. Thanks!
