solar panels - Another Question
Do purchased solar panels increase the value of the home? We are debating prchasing panels and my DH asked me. I would imagine they do.
If you were a home purchaser, would a home with solar panels be something you would want?

Re: solar panels
Yes, they do, but you are not taxed on that increase in value for at least 10 years. Another tax incentive to encourage buyers.

Re: solar panels
I'm not sure that they really do. We are in the process of buying a house with solar panels. I just looked at our appraisal and the panels are not even listed on the appraisal, so I don't think they were used to computer additional value.
Also, when we made an offer on the house, I figured the solar panels were a "nice to have" but we didn't consider paying more for the house because of them. While they will keep our electric bills down, they will be a PITA when we have to repair or replace the roof.
