Some Decorating Advice

Here is a picture of our foyer. I have those 2 cut outs and have no idea what to put in there. Thinking maybe candle sconces? I want to leave the "open feel" to it, but it needs something.

I have this table and mirror on the opposite wall to give you an idea.

Re: Some Decorating Advice

If you want to keep the open feel how about some of those decorative wrought iron panels

Like this but in a rectangular shape

The first thing that came to mind was some sort of paintings or prints to add some more color to the area.

It's funny you mention that, I was thinking of even painting the "cut out's" a different color to accent it. But, I might do the route of just getting some cute little prints.

Re: Some Decorating Advice

I think mirrors would look really nice. As well as sconces, but I think they would have be to be on the larger size so the cut out doesnt swallow them. Large iron ones would still allow an open feel.

I have the same mirror - love it, but it looks a little big over that console, overpowering it a bit. Can you relocate it somewhere else and put mirrors in the cut-outs so the foyer doesnt have so many?

Your house looks beautiful BTW.

I think you could do the different color in the cut out and d the prints. maybe find something with a pop color or a combo of the two colors. all great ideas. GL! Chat Icon

And if you wanted to go a little more you could recess puck lights on the top to display the prints or art work more. The have the wireless ones now. Just another thought. Chat Icon

I actually got the mirror idea from you Chat Icon. I loved it!!!

It looks 100% better in person and the angle I took it at is not great, but in person the combo looks great.

Thank you Chat Icon

Re: Some Decorating Advice

Here are some more ideas -

Tapestries - one in each cut out.

Artwork -

These are a little too formal - but I like the concept - mirrors and sconces in one!

Re: Some Decorating Advice

I agree with the previous suggestions about putting artwork in the cut-outs. I would also consider getting some picture lights to put above the art to highlight them and make the cut-outs more dramatic. The effect would be something like this:
