Some eye-ooger issues...

I am SOOO glad to have my computer back!

Emily has been having some funky eye issues since about Saturday, but it didn't get bad until Monday.

It started as just some extra eye discharge --- a light yellow color, in the corner of her eye. I'd wipe it away, no biggie.

On Monday while I was at work it was worse. We had her 15-month checkup on Tuesday, so I figured we'd just mention it then. She used to get clogged tear ducts a lot, so I thought that was it.

Well, tuesday I hit some traffic, called the office to let them know I'd be about 15 minutes late and they said we'd have to reschedule because they were very busy and short of staff and I couldn't make it late...

this morning the eye looked fine when she woke up---wasn't all crusted over like it had been on monday and tuesday --- but when I got home tonight it was really bad and the poor little girl looks like she has bad bags under her one eye because of rubbing it and the skin being irritated --- and I don't think it's that it's itchy, I just think it was wiped away not gently enough throughout the day---or maybe she was trying to wipe away the gook. I did clean it up with a warm washcloth and it looked a lot better.

I am just wondering what else this can be aside from a clogged tear duct. Do older babies get clogged tear ducts? Her eye is not bloodshot and aside from being annoyed from the crust, she doesn't seem otherwise bothered by it.

I am on jury duty right now and will be for at least a few more days, but my sister is going to try and get her to the pediatritian tomorrow to check it out because I'm nervous about it.

Thanks guys,
Melissa

Two words:

Pink. eye.

She needs eyedrops. Seriously, call your ped and see if they can call in a script for you, although you'll probably have to bring her in.

My boys had it right after Christmas. My little one had it in both eyes and then he got a double ear infection and an eye infection. Chat Icon

We ended up taking her today and she has pink eye --- so she has shots.....the poor little girl. I feel so bad that I let it go a few days thinking it couldn't be pink eye because her eye wasn't actually pink. I feel like such a bad mom!
