Some great news today! "UPDATE"
I went to my doctor this afternoon and was hoping I would be dilated more than what he told me last week which was 2 CM. Didn't happen
But I'm happy to say that if I don't go into labor on my own till Wednesday, then he will speed up the process!! The best thing is that day is my Moms anniversary and she will be thrilled
I am trying to avoid a C-section if its not necessary because right now my baby is almost 8 lbs! I'm happy I can still have a natural birth as of right now
I am keeping my news a secret from family and friends until I go to Good Sam at 7 AM on Wednesday!!!!
I am sooooo excited!!!!
*****UPDATE*****
Can't sleep! I am realizing if nothing happens the whole day today then I'm being induced early morning on the 18th!!! My mind is racing thinking about the labor, being prepared for my little ones arrival and the fact that I will be a FTM!! It feels like a dream to me. I have so many emotions and I'm trying to control them all
I think what I'm most nervous about is the labor more than anything and my family and friends had said it will be something I can take on and should not worry about....I think I can however its in my birth plan that I do not want any drugs for pain.
Am I really nuts!???
BTDTM- have any of you went the entire delivery without any drugs??

Re: Some great news today!
Yay!!! Baby is almost here!! I was 2cm at my 39 week appointment on Tuesday. If I make it to my 40 week appointment this Tuesday I'm gonna ask him to strip my membranes.

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
Ugh, can't sleep either. The anticipation is killing me!
Not sure about the no drugs thing, but I hope you can make it through without them like you want to.

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
It's understandable to be nervousness about labor. The unknown is always scary. I had two kids and I know I was frightened about labor. With my first daughter I was determined to go drug less but I wound up being in labor for 23 hours and pushing for 2 hours, so I took an epidural and I'm glad I did. It made me relax and made the rest of labor slightly easier. With my second daughter I was in labor 13 hours and she came out in 15 min. I had horrible back labor and three epidurals and none took. I later found out epidurals don't work on back labor. You do what is best for yourself and have no regrets. Good luck! You will be fine!

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
I've had three deliveries, you can read about the first two if you search my username on the birth story board. The third was this past April and I haven't posted it yet but it was completely med free and on the 11th day past EDD. A little over three hours start to finish.
All I can say is that pitocin will make it a lot harder to go pain med free, your body needs to prepare for birth (which is also better for recovery) and not all babies arrive on or before their due date.
Good luck!

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
Good luck! My plan was to have the epi but since I was on blood thinners I could not have the epi (meds were still in my system). I ended up getting demerol, but that basically knocked me out and I pretty much slept through the labor. Once everything gets started you will not have time to think about the delivery.

Some great news today!
I think it is nearly impossible to go drug free with pitocin (and even without it!!!), so I would leave the possibility for the epi open. Hope they comes on their own today! GL!

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
The unknown is so scary! But once it starts you will be ok! I also posted a birth story you can read from when I had my dd. I had a successful induction with her. The pitocin makes contractions extremely intense so you can try to do it without the epi but its ok if you need one too!

Re: Some great news today! "UPDATE"
Thanks ladies!! By reading all these responses I came to the conclusion being induced can make contractions more painful So I am going to leave my option open for an Epi and try not to feel guilty about it! I am still very nervous on what to expect so I will be reading a lot of birth stories tonight!!!!
